I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in the state of Alaska. I have over 5 years of experience working with individuals, families and children. I began my social work career as a court appointed advocate for children in foster care and gained a multitude of experience working with victims of trauma as a result. I have worked specifically with individuals and families in the prison system, in the psychiatric hospital setting, and in the private practice setting. I have experience working with military service members and their families as well. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, stress management, ADHD, relationship issues and parenting issues.
My counseling style is welcoming and warm. I believe in treating everyone with respect and engaging clients in open, meaningful conversation. I utilize a strength based and psycho-dynamic approach to cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify specific issues, formulate plans to address those issues, and then offer continued support and accountability to help my clients stay on track with their progress. I believe in starting where my clients are and strongly believe in allowing clients to identify their most critical issues and participate directly in their treatment. Each situation, and each client is unique; no two therapy interactions are the same. Therefore, an individualized therapeutic approach is always necessary.
