About me

Hello, my name is Ashley and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, NC. My fifteen years of therapeutic experience includes a clinical setting at an inpatient psychiatric hospital that served adolescents and adults, as well as, a university counseling center. I have worked with clients impacted by depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, and relationship challenges affecting their home and work life.

I provide individual counseling, for adults. I believe in a person-centered counseling approach, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for clients. And, motivational interviewing skills, exploring areas with you that might be barriers to change, and considering, together, ways to move through those blocks into places of freedom and hope. Your goals are what are important to me and will be the foundation of our therapeutic journey together. Techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, exploring the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, are also used in my practice. I have received training in trauma techniques, specifically EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. Trauma-focused therapy helps reduce responses that come from past trauma. I am actively seeking to become fully certified in these modalities.

I have personal experience living abroad for five years. Through those experiences, I developed the value of understanding the complexities that surround cultural identity and family, in cultures different from my own. Additionally, the stigma of mental health counseling continues to exist around the world. I know the courage it takes to step out and ask for help. I hope that together we can explore areas of growth that lead to healing while respecting your cultural values and the unique challenges you might be facing.

I love Ashley! She is so understanding and non-judgemental. I feel entirely safe talking to her and working through my life. She leads the discussion and allows room for silence so I can process my thoughts. She stays on topic and constantly challenges me to think about new perspectives. She does exercises and reads scripture and excerpts that help me in my situations. I can't talk highly enough about Ashley! She is caring, compassionate, comforting, and beyond helpful with my needs.

Ashley is so warm and responsive. She helped me navigate a difficult time in my life that caused me a lot of shame and guilt. I was so worried about disclosing certain information but I always felt heard and supported during my sessions. I would recommend Ashley to anyone ready to be introspective and work through tough stuff! She was an excellent guide!

I appreciate Ashley for her full presence during the session. I like how she takes notes and refers back to what I mentioned accurately. She also asks very thoughtful questions. The questions that you can only ask because you really listened.

From my first session with Ashley, I was deeply impressed with her ability to hold space for my story -- to treat it as something sacred. I have greatly appreciated every session with her and the care and respect with which she engages her clients.

Ashley is absolutely fantastic and anybody would be lucky to have her in their life. She has helped me get through issues I had buried so deep, I had forgotten they were there and how much negativity they had in my life. Ashley is such a beautiful soul, an amazing listener and her advice is second to none. Thanks to Ashley, I feel like myself again. Thank you Ashley - I appreciate everything you've done for me!
