About me

My name is Ashley Simmons, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with adults specializing in professional and performance counseling and coaching with the understanding that the better part of valor is discretion.

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client and their situation. I most frequently use a combination of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Together all or some of these therapies allow the client to better understand their situations laying the groundwork for positive improvement.

As a military spouse and former Division 1 athlete, my experience has led me to work with individuals in high-risk occupations (military, first responders, healthcare workers) and high-performing professionals (elite athletes, business executives, government leaders). Helping individuals navigate through trauma, life transitions, and relational distress while developing effective and relevant resilience skills is a cornerstone of my approach.

My communication style is relaxed, approachable, and personable. I believe in creating a space where clients feel comfortable and being honest with themselves without judgment or bias.

During our first session, we will spend the majority of our time talking about some of the obstacles you feel have been preventing you from achieving your optimal performance. I will be asking you general questions about the thoughts and ideas contributing to these obstacles. The first session is really about building a relationship that feels comfortable and collaborative.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Ashley Simmons. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Ashley has been a dream therapist over this past year, I didn't think it was possible to have this much success and progress in therapy till I met Ashley. She is attentive and knowledgeable which makes the experience that much easier to navigate, it is so easy to work with her and her attention to the details of what I say or explain to her is always spot on. She also treats you like a human and not a number. All and all I'm still enjoying my experience with betterhelp and Ashley almost a full year in.

A really empathic counsellor and committed to her work, that translates into extended help over to her clients, Ashley’s helped me to overcome some days of great difficulty by not only providing excellent listening and understanding skills, but by also having a proactive approach onto making me actively take part in my healing and go independently on empowering myself through the bad days,
Can’t recommend her enough ! :)

Ashley always surprises me with her perceptivity. She has an ability to cut through the BS and get to the crux of my issue.

Ashley has helped tremendously in my life. She has helped me identify my traumas and triggers and she honestly has helped me pull through a really rough time. For the first time since I was a kid I can finally say that I’m experiencing peace again and it was all thanks to her!
