About me

Thank you for visiting my profile! It takes strength to realize that you need help or guidance in your life. The truth is, we all need it at times! My name is Ashley Widmayer. I am a licensed mental health and substance abuse counselor in the state of Wisconsin. Over the past 14 years, I have worked with people suffering from depression, anxiety, addiction, and the stress of life change and transitions. I have spent time working in a number of settings, including community mental health/ addiction clinics, Hospital-based addiction treatment (ResidentiaI, Partial Hospital, Intensive Outpatient), College Counseling Center, and a group Private Practice. I am a primary referral resource for local college students dealing with a variety of issues from daily stress/anxiety to more serious addiction or mood disorders. I have experience working with clients ages 13- to 80-years-old. I love to work with adolescents, young adults, and the young at heart!

I have trained in Motivational Enhancement, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and related approaches (ACT, DBT). I like to focus on developing your strengths to deal with issues, while providing compassion, humor, and advice when needed. I do not focus on diagnoses, but rather focus on the whole person, life, and situation. As a unique individual, your treatment and goals will be tailored to your needs and preferences.

A little to know about me: I am a proud Aunt. I am a very dedicated Mama/Servant to cats and a dog. I love the outdoors (walking, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking), trying to be active, yoga, mindfulness practices, laughing, listening to true crime podcasts, reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, napping, cooking and eating.

My availability for live sessions can vary, so if you are interested in having a live session, let me know when you would like to schedule.

I look forward to working with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Ashley Widmayer. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

You can’t expect someone to respond 24/7 because these people have their own lives. But Ashley has been great and is always offering new tools to help me cope with my different stressors. She has been very understanding and tries her best to keep me on track. I appreciate her.

We haven’t been communicating for very long, but so far I’m very impressed with Ashley’s super attentive responses. She’s timely and doesn’t make me feel like I’m over reacting or wrong. I’m excited to keep talking. :)
