About me

Thank you for being here and for being willing to share information about important parts of your life with me. I view therapy as a part of self-care, just like going to the eye doctor, primary care physician, or physical therapist. But therapy involves people like you trusting me with personal information, which I see as an honor.

In my 20 years as a Licensed Health Service Psychologist, I have thought a great deal about the variety of life events that bring people to therapy. Most people who decide to start therapy want to resolve a difficult life circumstance, learn more positive ways to cope with stress, improve their relationships, heal from loss or trauma, or begin a path of personal growth. This can be a very rewarding experience. But it is not always "easy" because it requires a lot of mental energy.

Psychotherapy can help you develop a deeper understanding of the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and reactions to situations and people in your life. While life can never be problem-free, in therapy you can discover solutions to specific problems, assess your strengths and weaknesses, find better ways to cope with difficult situations, and improve communication. The skills learned in therapy are life-long. It is like creating an invisible "tool kit" that you can use whenever you want, for the rest of your life.

Every day I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, stress, fatigue, adjustment, and pain. All of these impact personal fulfillment, time with family and friends, and work.

I check for messages regularly during my office hours, which are 900 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will do my best to message back within 24 hours. Exceptions to this call back time-frame are weekends, holidays, and set vacation dates. For example, a message left on Friday will not be answered until Monday.
