Hello, and welcome to my profile!
I am a licensed professional counselor in Texas and North Carolina and have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 6 years. I attended Yale University and the University of Texas at Austin and received my master's in professional counseling from Texas State University. I believe therapy can help us face difficulties and even be transformative. I decided to become a therapist when I sought counseling during a tough period in my own life and found that it really helped me. It offered me refuge, connection, hope, and eventually a new balance and vision about how to live. This is the kind of experience I try to offer.
My background includes work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in community mental health clinics, non-profits, psychiatric hospitals, and state programs supporting individuals reintegrating into society after prison, as well as private practice.
My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing on attachment, mindfulness, third wave cognitive behavioral therapy and other theories. My style is warm, supportive, relational, and person-centered. I focus on you, how you and I relate in a therapeutic setting, and what you can learn from this experience to take with you back out into the world. We might explore family history, cognitive patterns, existential questions, or whatever is on your mind. But mostly we will focus on how these things manifest in the here and now and how it feels to face them.
