About me

Brett Garcia is a highly qualified Integrative and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). With over 20 years of experience, he works globally with clients across diverse backgrounds, cultures, and time zones. His clinical work spans Social Care, Education, Health, and private sectors, offering therapeutic support and assessments to children, families, adults, and professionals.

Specialist in Complex and High-Stakes Cases
Brett has spent the past decade in senior leadership roles within the UK National Health Service (NHS), including as a Senior Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead. He is highly experienced in Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Physical Disabilities, and is clinically trained in the diagnosis of Autism in both children and adults.

He has worked extensively with the military, police, and frontline professionals, supporting individuals working under extreme pressure, trauma, and emotional strain.

Global Support with a Holistic Lens
Brett offers a compassionate, non-judgemental, and analytical approach to therapy. He works with clients to uncover the underlying causes of distress, explore patterns of behaviour, and create lasting strategies for emotional resilience. His integrative approach includes exploring the three levels of mind—conscious, subconscious, and unconscious—and how these interact with identity, behaviour, and societal norms.
His practice is trauma-informed and inclusive of neurodiverse clients, including those with suspected or diagnosed ADHD and Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Contributing to Change Beyond the Therapy Room
Brett is an active thought leader in the field of mental health. He publishes articles, engages in research, and regularly speaks to audiences about the societal and organisational impact of psychological health. His work focuses on reducing stigma and increasing access to high-quality care.

Organisational Psychology and Executive Coaching
In addition to therapy, Brett specialises in executive coaching, leadership training, and neurodiversity in the workplace. He works with business founders, corporate teams, and entrepreneurs to foster emotionally intelligent leadership and inclusive company cultures.
As a business coach and mentor, Brett integrates psychological insight with business acumen—providing results-driven support to individuals and teams navigating change, conflict, and decision-making.

Strategic and Insightful Problem-Solving
Drawing from humanistic-integrative, psychodynamic, and psychoanalytic models, Brett combines emotional insight with structured, outcome-focused strategies. He helps clients whether individuals or organisations and navigate complexity with clarity and confidence.

Committed to Community and Professional Growth
Brett serves as Chair of a mental health charity, where he leads strategic initiatives, supports professional development, and promotes mental health policy reform. He also collaborates with universities and global networks on research and training.

At BetterHelp, Brett supports individuals, couples, families, and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and others. Whether you’re navigating neurodiversity, relationship challenges, work stress, trauma, or identity exploration, Brett offers a safe and enriching space to grow.

He is particularly skilled at working with clients from high-pressure careers or marginalised communities and welcomes international clients of all backgrounds.

We have never thought that BetterHelp could provide someone with the expertise and knowledge to deal with our complex needs.

But Brett has really been a godsend and is fantastic. He is empathetic, he usually understand us and on those rare occasions that he doesn't, he asks relevant questions. He is very knowledgeable of complex trauma and neurodivergence and always makes us feel heard. He is very respectful of our experiences and never makes us feel bad for being so messed up.

We have been traumatized in the past by therapists, and Brett has been helping us in moving forward and has been able to really get us started on our healing journey.

We couldn't ask for anyone better!

Brett has helped me in the last few sessions to determine the causes and reasons for my anxieties and worries . The last session he asked pertinent questions that were thought provoking and although it’s been tough at times I feel lighter and not so lost
