About me

I am a licensed psychologist and therapist in Kentucky with over 25 years of clinical experience. As a PhD clinical psychologist, I have a comprehensive education and ongoing relevant training.

Therapy involves discussing significant life problems with a trusted professional in a private, accepting space. Most of us don't openly talk about our problems. We sometimes have parts ourselves that we rarely share with anyone. Therapy can be a place for us to talk honestly about ourself. This simple act can bring relief, self-awareness, and confidence. The goal is to create a meaningful life --a life worth living.

Each client is different. My therapy approach can differ too, depending on the individual and the situation. I will always ask questions about your life and childhood. Often, I'll nudge you to try understanding your world differently or to do some things differently. Therapy sessions typically last a little less than an hour and occur once a week. I find that our meeting regularly maintains continuity and momentum. However, you are the one who ultimately decides how often we meet. After each session, I will spend time reflecting on what we discussed and may return to these matters later. I'll ask you to reflect on our discussion between sessions too. We can message each other through the BetterHelp app for updates and support.
Online therapy is as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy. I have found BetterHelp to be a good and fair provider-- I would not be here otherwise. As with anything involving money, understand the details of your BetterHelp services--sessions, weeks, billing, etc. I am not involved with that aspect of the program and will refer you to others with those questions.
For those exploring therapy for the first time -- welcome! For those facing specific problems or wanting a deeper understanding of themselves, therapy may last a number of weeks or months. I won't push for more sessions than necessary. My goal is for you to lead a contented life without therapy. We will not attempt to fix everything. However, I'm optimistic that with effort, meaningful changes are possible.
