Carilyn Rego, LCSW-C
About me
Hi my name is Carilyn Rego, but I go by Carrie. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Maryland who has been working in the mental health field for 15 years. I have my MSW from Monmouth University and have worked in a variety of different settings and in different states. I have worked in therapy settings with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use, PTSD, DID, and schizophrenia.
I consider my theoretical approach to be eclectic, since no two people have the same needs. I believe in giving clients the time, space, and resources they need to discover their own path to healing. I start with a person-centered approach to help clients identify their goals and then work from there to determine if a more specific type of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is appropriate.
I have experience working with clients from all types of backgrounds and belief systems, and I pride myself in maintaining a non-judgemental atmosphere. I have specific experience and training in working with LGBTQ clients, including in supporting transgender individuals in their own unique journeys. Another area in which I have significant professional and person experience is in working with survivors of suicide.
I firmly believe that every person can live their best life given the right tools and support! It is the job of a good therapist to help each client see that potential in themselves and achieve their goals! Together, we can do this!

She is so helpful, and listens, and provides truly helpful suggestions, and lets me share at my own pace. My sessions have been so helpful in organizing my thoughts and validating some of my emotions as my life in is a huge transition phase right now, and I do not do well with change, period. She is patient, kind, non judgemental, understanding, empathetic, and truly listens. I feel heard and seen.

Carilyn is the rare combination of very empathetic, gentle and caring and exceedingly insightful. She always allows me the space to feel what I need to process but helps to create effective strategies to move forward. I never feel rushed or silly and I feel genuinely cared for. Carilyn is one of a kind. I cannot speak highly enough of her.
