Carlos Calvet Ortin
About me
I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based in London.
Since I started my training I have worked closely with issues around loss—whether that be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a job, or something else deeply meaningful and irreplaceable. Loss can take many forms, and I aim to offer a safe space to explore its impact.
In addition to loss, I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including:
-Depression
-Anxiety
-Low self-esteem
-Loneliness
-Death anxiety
-Feeling stuck
-Communication issues
-Identity
-Obsessive thoughts
-Miscarriage
Over the years, I’ve provided therapy in a variety of settings—private practice, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), healthcare providers, charities, and schools. I also understand the emotional challenges faced by people moving to the UK for the first time, including feelings of alienation and the grief of being far from family and community.
My Approach
I work from an integrative perspective, with a person-centred model at the heart of my practice.
In simple terms, integrative therapy means I draw from different approaches depending on what suits the individual in front of me. I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all method. Each person’s experience is unique, and my approach embraces this principle.
Rather than trying to fit clients into a particular model, I work around who you are, what you need, and where you are in your process. I believe human experience can be explored in many ways—and no single theory holds all the answers.
I am bilingual and can offer sessions in English and Spanish.
Creativity and the Unconscious
In addition to my counselling training, I hold a degree in Fine Arts, and this background deeply informs my work. I believe that creativity and imagination can be powerful tools in therapy—offering ways to connect with unconscious parts of ourselves and bring them into awareness. Sometimes, rediscovering forgotten or hidden parts of ourselves is the first step toward meaningful change.
Whatever your concerns are, I will offer you a safe and non- judgemental space so that we explore them at length, at your pace, and find ways to move forward.
Working with men
Many men don’t like to seek help due to dominant masculine values of stoicism, independence and self-control. It also can be related to feelings of shame about the concerns that are bothering them or being seeing as 'weak'.
If you are a man and this resonates with you, I am glad that you have reached out to talk to someone and open up about whatever is troubling you. 'To get somewhere new, you must first decide that you are tired of being where you are'.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Carlos Calvet Ortin. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Working with Carlos has been a really positive experience. He has a very calm and grounded manner which makes it easy for me to open up, even about things I usually find difficult to talk about. I’ve come away from sessions with a better understanding of myself and some really useful insights. I’d definitely recommend him.

I feel very positive about my sessions with Carlos. I was surprised how well it works to talk to him via text, and his responses always feel considered, appropriate, and helpful. He is clearly expert in his field and I would recommend him as a therapist who makes it easy to be open with.

Four sessions in and it's clear Carlos is an attentive listener. Having never done this before It's kind of daunting, but that's kind of the point. I'm confident I can talk to Carlos about life in a non judgemental manor. And I'm confident he can flip the script on my sometimes negative self evaluation, which for some reason can be a blind spot in my thought process.

I find Carlos’s approach very reassuring. Carlos gives me time to talk and get my feelings out and lets me appreciate that these feelings are also normal and to have compassion for myself.
Carlos validates my apprehension through talking therapy that doesn’t negate my feelings.
