My name is Carole LaFreniere, and I work with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, and those who have experienced trauma and sexual assault. I have my Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, and hold certifications as a Trauma Professional, Grief Therapist and as a Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider. I have training in EMDR as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy. I have worked in the mental health field for the last 6 years, both with inpatient psychiatric patients and individual patients in the community.
I consider the client/therapist relationship to be the most important piece in therapy. I believe in a collaborative approach to setting goals and working on problems with an eye to finding solutions. My approach in therapy combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy. I take a strengths approach and consider the whole person in the environment they are in. Since everyone is an individual, I will work with you to design a personalized treatment plan to meet your goals. I am non-judgmental, empathetic and incorporate a sense of humor into our session.
If your ready to take the first steps toward making changes, i would love to help you achieve those changes.
I take appointments in the evenings and weekends to accommodate working adults.

I cannot say enough great things about Carole. She is a wonderful, responsive amd knowledgeable therapist. She helped me achieve my goals and I now feel safe and secure daily.
Carol did a great job of providing the help that I needed. She’s a great listener and took the time to ask questions to understand the problems I was facing and where I was at. She has a very laid-back, calm and fun personality which made it easy for me to relax and open up. She’s really good at what she does and I would highly recommend her to anybody.
Carole is a professional, kind, generous, perceptive and effective therapist.
She is really thoughtful and detailed about my session. Good listener and communication. I am happy to get a help from her.
Carole is a great therapist. I have learned to process my emotions better and to give myself credit when improving on my goals. I feel understood. Thank you, BetterHelp, for having wonderful people working with you.
she’s a real homie. i’m obviously a millennial with my terminology but seriously in the 2 sessions i’ve had she’s talked me through things that i knew were possible but didn’t know how to execute and already feel peaceful and slowly but surely will be able to navigate my personal conflicts in life and my past. she’s understanding and able to ask questions that put you in a “never thought of that” way to really get your brain working.
Carole is incredible! I love how she incorporates neuroscience into cognitive behavioral therapy; the calming techniques I’ve learned have really saved me when I’m starting to feel panic. She is kind, understanding, and extremely easy to talk to!
Carole has been nothing but stellar so far in my journey to become a better version of myself.
Carole is super helpful. Her advice has helped me manage my stress levels a lot in the month that we've been together. I'm super grateful to have met her.
I have only had a limited time with Carole so far and it has already made a significant impact in my life. She was recommended to me by a family member who is also extremely happy with her. I can sit here and talk so good about her but the only thing you need to know is that she is the one. Just book your session with her and she will take care the rest.
Carole is the sweetest. I was hesistant about BetterHelp at first and anxious that I wouldn’t meet my match but she perfectly fits everything I was looking for. She’s very helpful, considerate, cool and really funny.
She’s everything I could ask for in a therapist and more!
I absolutely love Carole. I’ve worked with many therapists and she has honestly been the first one I could trust right from the beginning and I feel like she just gets me. She has came at a very dark time in my life and truly made a difference.
Carole is very attentive as well as intuitive. I appreciate the way she allows me to talk things out while offering guidance along the way, I feel comfortable with her, as though I’m talking with a friend, and at the same time, her direct & realist approach resonates well with me. She offers practical therapeutic exercises that have worked successfully for me so far. I look forward to continuing working with her.
Carole has been so amazing and helpful throughout my therapy journey. Coming into therapy for the first time, it was definitely intimidating and scary but she always made me feel so comfortable and was able to help me through so many aspects of life that were holding me back from being able to live my life to the fullest. She’s provided me with so many tools for success and taught me how to work through my problems so it doesn’t hold me back.
Carole has been a wonderful guide in helping me through my anxiety. Her approach has been tremendously helpful, her feedback invaluable and her sessions with me have left me feeling reassured and empowered to make a change. She has provided me with the tools I needed to work through my anxious situations and talking through these situations with her has helped me to reshape my entire thought process. Her schedule is accommodating and I have appreciated that she is available on weekends. Thank you, Carole.
Carole is down to earth, friendly, reassuring, and open. She gets it! Her expertise coupled with her life experience sets her apart from other counselors I have had in the past. If you want someone who really listens and understands, I highly recommend Carole.
Carole's help has been instrumental in my journey to find happiness, grow as a person, and move forward in my life. She has helped me shape a better understanding of what I've been through, how to work through it, and build a plan for my future.
