Hello…and thank you for taking that difficult first step by viewing my profile! My name is Lyn and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Wisconsin. During my 23 years of clinical practice, I have worked with a variety of clients presenting with issues from depression and anxiety to childhood neglect/abuse, PTSD and grief. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, my expertise is working with individuals who experience trauma in their lives. What is trauma? "Trauma is the psychological, emotional (and physical) response to an event or an experience that is deeply distressing or disturbing to the individual." Sometimes trauma is related to just one event, such as losing your house in a fire or the sudden loss of a loved one. Other times, trauma can cast a long shadow over our lives, such as childhood abuse or prolonged exposure to events out of our control.
My therapeutic approach stems from the core belief you are the expert of your own life and our time together is a partnership. My role as therapist is to guide, assist and occasionally challenge you in that healing process. My style is grounded in Client-Centered and Humanistic models though I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am comfortable using many adjunctive therapies, as well.
Personally, I am a mother, grandmother, yoga enthusiast, hiker, friend, sister, retired Director and active therapist. I am honest, compassionate, progressive and disciplined. I am recently semi-retired though I love this work and that is how I found BetterHelp. My years of experience have shown me the relationship between therapist and client is the key to therapeutic success. If you don’t like your therapist, you won’t do the work. So, I am honored you might consider trusting me as a partner in your journey.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Carolyn (Lyn) Beyer. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She listened and supported my concerns, empathized what I was going through at the time and reached out to me to follow up.
I like Carolyn because she is completely honest but at the same time very supportive. This is my first time talking to a therapist in a long while and she made this transition for me completely painless. So that resulted in my very high enthusiasm for therapy and me looking forward to our sessions.
She also recommends lots of related and applicable material, sends links, which I appreciate.
She has great insight and has a deep personality, which sadly can't be said for every therapist.
I am very lucky to have met her and feel a lot of gratitude towards her.
Carolyn has been very helpful. She knows a lot about addiction and codependency. Highly recommend.
From my current experience I am pleased with how Carolyn interacts with me. she is amazing.
Carolyn is a good therapist .She is very empathetic and has been helping me tremendously in my healing process. I would strongly recommend her to anyone .
Carolyn is the most compassionate therapist I've ever had. I have had a really hard time finding a therapist who was truly able to address my trauma issues and then I found Carolyn. I've already had several breakthroughs with her and she has been able to gently and skillfully guide me through the process of delving into my past. I highly recommend Carolyn Beyer.
Carolyn is an amazing listener. She was very cooperative with me when I said that I want to converse via text instead of calling/video chatting, and I really appreciate that a lot. It helped me open up to her, as I feel that I am better at communicating via text. My short time with her was incredibly helpful, and I would have continued therapy with her if Betterhelp wasn't so expensive.
Carolyn has been an amazing counselor. She is very knowledgeable and is very easy to talk to. She is also a great listener!!! I always feel very comfortable talking to her.
