I am an Approved Licensed Professional Counselor with over 18 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and their families. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, self-harm, parenting problems, life challenges, and lack of motivation. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse . I am a Certified Trauma Professional through IATP.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques that have proven to be helpful to others whom I have worked closely with. I would like to find the ones you are most comfortable with and of course most effective for you. I believe, it is possible to get our lives where we want to be with the support of someone who believes in us. I am a kind, compassionate and honest counselor. It is important to openly communicate about counseling strategies and how they are or are not working during our time together. This will help guide us so we know the next direction to take.
A few of my favorite therapies include client-centered and cognitive behavior techniques, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Impact Therapy, and Reality Therapy. DBT is basically a non-judgmental therapy accepting you where you are but helping you make changes to reach your goals of where you want to be. This therapy focuses on mindfulness, self-regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships. Impact Therapy is a non-judgmental therapy using analogies to shift our thinking to a healthier frame of mind. Reality therapy accepts you where you are and then focuses on the goals you have and how you will reach your goals.
I am flexible and will work with you on a schedule that fits you best.
