About me

Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Catherine and I am here to help and support you move forward if I can.

A little about me Hmmm. Well firstly, counselling others was never my first choice of career, and I do have another qualification and Degree elsewhere. However, like most people I came to a crossroads in my life, and I decided to switch career paths. So, I completed a Level 2 Counselling Skills Qualification, followed by a Level 3 Counselling Qualification, followed by a Level 7 MA Integrative Psychotherapy Degree, whilst being mum to my children, running, and maintaining our home, alongside becoming a counselling volunteer to enhance my studies, that required me to work out in the community helping and supporting others, and now here I am.

A multi heritage licensed therapist in the UK, with over 4 years of professional work experience, education, and training. I have experience in helping clients in many different areas including ADHD, GAD, loss and grief, Depression, Anxiety, Isolation, Relationships, and much more.

I am more than happy to work with any ethnic background or culture, because whilst counselling is primarily focused around the client, it is also good experience and beneficial for therapists to familiarise themselves with other’s racial ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, so we can appreciate and respect those differences.

I am currently volunteering with an amazing organisation who supports the carers, of sick relatives, friends and neighbours, and the every day stresses my client’s are facing and enduring that can include, a lack of self-care, my clients questioning their own self-worth, or I could be supporting my clients through the loss and grief process.

No two days are ever the same and many different issues and challenges arise, therefore I take each of my clients on an individual basis and afford each of my clients the same level of commitment and respect they deserve.

So if you do contact me and you do not get an immediate response, please bear in mind that I shall be in session with another client but I will always get back to you as soon as I become available.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, and together we work to resolve issues.

I encourage my clients to book a live session with me so that we can familiarise ourselves with each other and I can obtain an understanding and clearer perspective of my clients issues. From that initial interaction I shall always get to work setting my clients obtainable goals, so they can challenge themselves. Or I may ask my clients to complete worksheets suitable to their issues, the aim being to raise more of an awareness to the presenting problem, then we can get to work solving the problem or bringing about change.

I appreciate counselling and therapy can be a worrying experience but “If you always do what you have always done, then you will always get what you have always got”.

Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Catherine Kearns. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Catherine is extremely professional and knowledgeable. She knows how to be comforting while also not shying away from the hard truths. Her approach gets results and I could not recommend her more!

Speaking to Catherine has been a great addition to life and the weekly video calls has provided a much needed structure. Putting into practice what we discussed during the sessions and though worksheets has provided a very noticeable lift during the week. Catherine is always quick to provide support outside of sessions through messaging.

Catherine is amazing. When I first started seeing her I was really nervous, and anxious and sad and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. From the first session she has been supportive and encouraging. She understands my needs and helps me work towards them by setting worksheets and talking through things with me. She responds so effectively and honestly she’s just made me so much happier and more confident in myself. I could not recommend her enough.
