At various times in our lives we may feel the need for change and personal growth. I believe that the change and personal growth we seek can be achieved through therapeutic collaboration. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a unique opportunity to take a look within and move passed anything that is holding us back. While this process is not easy; it is sacred and rewarding and I am honored to be a part of your process.
I am a native of Ohio, and began my road to becoming a counselor through undergraduate studies at Bowling Green State University where I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology. I continued my studies at Martin University where I obtained my first Master's Degree with a concentration in Community Psychology. I later returned for a second Master's and attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where my concentration was Counseling Psychology. Through these studies I was able to develop a love and great respect for the human experience.
I began counseling in 2015, and I am an LCPC in Maryland. From 2015 until May 2020, I worked full-time in an Outpatient facility which focused on substance use and mental health disorders associated with addiction, such as anxiety and depression. My clinical approach blends Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential, and Person-Centered and is centered in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy); for me this means that I look at the thought patterns that have been developed based on the early life experiences and look create meaning and context, and I believe that each person is unique based on their experiences. While this blend may be beneficial for many, I understand that at times I may need to suspend my typical approach and take time to integrate other approaches that may be better suited for the person I am collaborating with and their needs.
As we venture through this time, I hope to provide positive interactions that facilitate change.

Chamika is wonderful and has been a crucial component in my growth. I will forever be grateful to her.
She is just great and I’m happy to be working with her
A truly great counselor who is extremely supportive- she starts where you are and works with how you work. She goes above and beyond to respond to your concerns and issues that may not be obvious, but are necessary to address. I have experienced positive changes in less than a month with her sessions, and would not hesitate to recommend her at all!
Chamika has been very understanding, her approach and expertise has helped me to better understand my reactions.
Very easy to talk to, very good listener, every session you come of with her you feel relieved
Chamika is truly dedicated to her work, and has helped me on my journey in the short time that we have been working together. We have been working on identifying and reframing core beliefs. Chamika is compassionate, honest and extremely skillful!
Chamika is everything I need in a counselor. Her professionalism is highlighted by her sharp listening skills and her ability to help me explore my personal issues and look for resolutions. I would strongly recommend Chamika to family and friends for counseling services.
Chamika is knowledgeable with a calm demeanor and a curiosity that allowed me to open up during our phone conversation. She certainly meets me where I am in the process of healing and allows me to determine the direction of my progress.
She is great. She makes you think and she will respond
Love Chamika! She is very good at utilizing the time we have and getting right to the important questions. She is very smart and kind and easy to talk to!
Chamika is a great therapist. This is my first time doing therapy virtually and through messaging and I really like it. Chamika listens to my concerns and helps me create a clear path on how to work on my concerns and to help myself in the future. I feel as though I’ve made great progress working with her!
Chamika has been extremely helpful to me since the first message exchange. She intuitively picks up on language I am using and holds a metaphorical mirror up to me so I can see myself. She is compassionate and direct. I would recommend her to anyone who is ready to take feedback for self improvement and make changes in their lives! Thank you for your help
Chamika took the time to review the journal entries I shared and really understood things and came with practical advice and insightful questions that were very helpful from our very first session. Would definitely recommend working with Chamika Block if you can!
Chamika Block's way of bringing everything together is really therapeutic for me. In my experience she has a way of getting to know you and helping you getting to know yourself as well. I’m looking forward to really working more with her. Down to earth and listens to you and helps you know you.
I am relatively new to Betterhelp and to working with Chamika, but I am not new to working with a therapist. For the first time I have felt that my therapist is not only genuinely listening, but she is listening with an open mind and with a sense of understanding. I feel comfortable being myself with her and I believe she genuinely cares about my growth and she wants to find the ways that she can help me be more successful in my life. I feel like I can take more control and I have already been given concrete tools to put into place to make my life better. She is doing an incredible job and I am thankful to be working with her and thankful I was matched with her.
Chamika is very good and proactive. Thank you to her!
She has been very understanding and has given practical tips and advise to support me with my anxiety and relationship concerns.
I have really enjoyed working with Chamika so far. She listens and is understanding, while also offering clarity when needed. Chamika is also great at applying broad concepts to specific situations, when I told her I identified on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, she asked me what my specific relationship with my identity was. I thought this was really empathetic and helpful as it let me think about my relationship with myself.
So far such a great person to talk to. Love her conversational approach :) I appreciate her help so much.
She has helped me recognize parts me essential to my healing, growth and well being as a person. I am beyond thankful to have somebody as supportive and understanding as Chamikah. Anybody would be lucky to have her as their therapist!
Honestly I never write reviews, but I have to share my really positive experience with Chamika. As a woman of color it was really important for me to have someone who could empathize and give me her perspective as another WoC on parenting issues, and career anxieties I had. Talking to Chamika has made me realize the importance of taking time for myself, and she gives me very concrete methods to help alleviate my anxiety or solve my issues. She always gives me a recap of our sessions so I can remember what we had covered, and she always follows up even though we don’t have a session plan. I love knowing that I have Chamika by my side as a professional advisor and friend.
Chamika is very compassionate and listens. It feels like talking with a friend and not just a counselor.
Thanks Chamika! Counseling has really helped make my mental not go boom for the past few months!
Chamika is amazing put my mind at ease and was a joy. She made coming out of a sad comfort zone much better and she’s easy to talk to.
Chamika and I have only spoken 3 times and I think we've made more progress figuring out a plan of action than a month's worth of sessions with my last therapist. :)
A true listener, Chamika has helped me through a rough couple of weeks. She is very attentive and helps you pull those feelings out. She also helps you figure out ways to move forward into a better space while learning some steps that could help you to understand your feelings. She is a great counselor to work with.
Chamika is one of the best therapists I've ever worked with. She is so understanding and compassionate. She's very focused and has been incredible in my growth and self care.
Very nice and patient.
Chamika understood what my goals were with BetterHelp and then expanded it to get the most out of each conversation. I am really impressed with her style and look forward to the many more discussions with her.
Chamika has been responsive and understanding of my current situation and able to offer insights I could not get to on my own. Her input has been invaluable!
Very responsive and perceptive. Effective strategy and approach for working through specific issues.
Chamika has proven to be there for be all the time needed, offering her advice and her expertise, I trust that if I follow her suggestions I can be better, and healthier. She is very kind and has a great background and experience.
