At various times in our lives we may feel the need for change and personal growth. I believe that the change and personal growth we seek can be achieved through therapeutic collaboration. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a unique opportunity to take a look within and move passed anything that is holding us back. While this process is not easy; it is sacred and rewarding and I am honored to be a part of your process.
I am a native of Ohio, and began my road to becoming a counselor through undergraduate studies at Bowling Green State University where I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology. I continued my studies at Martin University where I obtained my first Master's Degree with a concentration in Community Psychology. I later returned for a second Master's and attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where my concentration was Counseling Psychology. Through these studies I was able to develop a love and great respect for the human experience.
I am an LCPC in Maryland and have 4 years of clinical experience. My full-time work has focused on substance use and mental health disorders associated with addiction, such as anxiety and depression. My clinical approach blends Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential, and Person-Centered; for me this means that I look at the thought patterns that have been developed based on the early life experiences and look create meaning and context, and I believe that each person is unique based on their experiences. While this blend may be beneficial for many, I understand that at times I may need to suspend my typical approach and take time to integrate other approaches that may be better suited for the person I am collaborating with and their needs.
As we venture through this time, I hope to provide positive interactions that facilitate change.

Thanks Chamika! Counseling has really helped make my mental not go boom for the past few months!
Chamika is amazing put my mind at ease and was a joy. She made coming out of a sad comfort zone much better and she’s easy to talk to.
Chamika has always been empathetic and kind when talking to her. I feel safe and understood when I'm with her. I look forward to emailing or speaking with her because she really does try to understand.
Chamika and I have only spoken 3 times and I think we've made more progress figuring out a plan of action than a month's worth of sessions with my last therapist. :)
A true listener, Chamika has helped me through a rough couple of weeks. She is very attentive and helps you pull those feelings out. She also helps you figure out ways to move forward into a better space while learning some steps that could help you to understand your feelings. She is a great counselor to work with.
Chamika is one of the best therapists I've ever worked with. She is so understanding and compassionate. She's very focused and has been incredible in my growth and self care.
Very nice and patient.
Chamika understood what my goals were with BetterHelp and then expanded it to get the most out of each conversation. I am really impressed with her style and look forward to the many more discussions with her.
Chamika has been responsive and understanding of my current situation and able to offer insights I could not get to on my own. Her input has been invaluable!
Very responsive and perceptive. Effective strategy and approach for working through specific issues.
Chamika has proven to be there for be all the time needed, offering her advice and her expertise, I trust that if I follow her suggestions I can be better, and healthier. She is very kind and has a great background and experience.
