Thank you for considering Better Help to be a support for you! Change is easier when you feel heard, understood, validated and empowered. I believe that a trusting and honest relationship where your therapist helps you feel that you are the expert to your experience is extremely important to your belief that you can achieve the goals you set for yourself.
My name is Charlene Esquilin and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York. I earned my Masters in Social Work from Hunter College in 2013. I've worked in many different settings with individuals and families which include working with children and adults with disabilities, working with individuals who have open ACS cases, as well as adults, children, teenagers and families experiencing challenges connected to emotions likes anxiety, depression, anger, relationship problems, addictions and adjusting to different life situations. I also have experience working with parents in a group setting providing them support as they improve their parenting skills. I have worked in a variety of settings such as foster care agencies, schools, clinics and religious organizations. During my time in this field I have learned that providing a respectful, nonjudgmental environment is what contributes to a healthy therapist-client relationship where the client can thrive and feel most empowered.
You are welcome to message me anytime through Better Help. I will usually check messages twice each day, seven days per week. I will offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions with evening availability Monday through Thursday and Morning and evening times Friday though Sunday. Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability so you always want to check that out with me through messaging first.
I look forward to working with you!

Charlene has been my therapist for about a month and half now, I absolutely adore her! ✨ She knew I needed someone there to not just help and understand but also just to LISTEN! And she does just that
She is very attentive and helpful but I have only had one session with her so I feel that I can't give a complete review
Charlene, has been attentive and always there when im low. The sessions have been amazing, she hears me out. I feel like theres no rush to start. Charlene is the very first therapist i ever had and she has made it a great experience.
Charlene is very kind and helpful, very easy to talk to.
Charlene continues to be a great match. She remembers details about me that I think she may have forgotten and she recommends tools that she knows are specific to my growth. She is such a great listener and with time I’ve been able to open up to her about much more difficult things. That’s the comfort and safety that was built and I’m extremely grateful for her.
Charlene is a great listener, helpful, insightful, and kind.
Calm, patient and encouraging. Charlene is a great help and resource in dealing with my mental health issues.
Charlene is very reliable and gives valuable insight. You can't put a price on her expertise and empathy as it has no bounds. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations as it felt like I was to a good friend . You have helped me more than you've realized. Thank you, Charlene.
Charlene is a very compassionate person and therapist. She listens to me and offers me helpful resources and techniques to utilize.
Very kind and helpful.
Charlene is very honest and supportive in her counseling. She is not judgemental at all and is a very good listener. She's very helpful at working with you to come up with a game plan for making hard situations easier to navigate.
Charlene has really helped me grow these last couple months. She relates to me and tries her best to always help me find solutions within myself. I struggle still, but it’s a lot less because of her.
She’s amazing! Has great feedback and down to earth.
Very understanding and supportive
Very kind and validating perspective!
Charlene is empathetic and kind. She really listens and offers practical advice and tools to work through. She's a God send, for sure.
Charlene is absolutely incredible. She is such an amazing listener and always provides resources to help further. She is charismatic, honest, and calm. As a first time therapy user, she made this experience one that I'll never forget. I recommend her to anyone that could use an ear and some very effective strategies in your areas of trouble.
Thank you, Charlene!
I am so happy that I found Charlene. I had signed up with Better Help a few weeks before I found her, but scheduling with time changes was difficult matching with other therapists. When I started searching, Charlene's reviews were wonderful (and absolutely true). She is patient, a wonderful listener, empathetic, and always responds in a timely manner. I always look forward to the days when we have our video chat sessions, and I can truly tell there's been an improvement in myself since working with her.
When I first started with the Better Help App I was extremely disappointed with my First Theropist that was assigned to me and I was ready to cancel my membership, that’s when I was switched to my now Theropist Charlene Esquilin. I truly can not say enough about Charlene!!! :) she’s absolutely Amazing!!!! She offers Excellent Advice, as well she is always willing to just listen when I need to just get things off my chest, she has helped me in so many ways . I lost my oldest son 6 1/2 years ago and to date Charlene has helped me even more I believe than she may even possibly realize and I’ve only had a handful of sessions to date with her. I am truly Thankful as well beyond Grateful to have been paired with Charlene! I would recommend her a million times over and over again to everyone!!!
Very knowledgeable and very willing to help
Charlene is so patient and kind. I’m so glad I was paired with her!
Charlene has been great during this difficult period in my life. She is an attentive listener and has given me many helpful worksheets to review and help me with effectively communicating.
I was matched with Charlene at the perfect time and appreciate how we meshed from the very beginning. She has been extremely communicative, understanding, and a sense of peace. During my sessions with her, I can just unwind my brain and truly feel heard. The suggestions and practices she provides me with are amazing and incredibly helpful. I cannot recommend Charlene enough, regardless of what you are navigating through.
Where can I start , the day I signed up to better help I didn’t know what to expect. Not sure how the selection is chosen but I am happy I am paired with her , she opened up to me about herself and gave her me her resume on how long she’s been a counselor. I am more than happy with her being my counselor she is so sweet and a great listener. It’s almost like she’s knows when something is wrong and it’s only 2nd time having an appointment with her. I highly recommend her as my counselor. She can tell you I was being stubborn saying I dish to need counseling and she quickly changed my mind. Soon as we finish our sessions I feel so much lighter and I am super great full for her presence. I’d give her a 5 star google review.
Super kind and warm. I never had a hard time opening up and never felt judged. Thank you for your kindness. I’m in a much better place now then I was a month ago
Ms. Esquilin has been a tremendous help for me. Caring, compassionate, and a genuinely good person are some words I would use to describe her. As someone who, until recently, never put much weight into counseling, I can honestly say that Ms. Esquilin has changed that and has allowed me to open up freely.
