I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Michigan. I use a person-centered and strengths-based approach that begins where you are in the present and focuses on your strengths in order to move forward. I will help you explore the problems you are facing in order to identify the changes that you want to make in your life. I began my career as a School Social Worker, an experience that gave me insight into the problems that children face in schools. During those years, I specialized in working with parents individually and through formal parenting classes. I also worked as a clinical social worker providing behavioral health counseling to children, adolescents and adults in a private mental health clinic and later ina large family service agency. My goal in each counseling session is for you to leave feeling more hopeful and confident that you can move forward in a positive way. A receptionist once told me that my clients come in looking sad and go out with a smile, a compliment that warmed my heart.

Charlene is my second counselor from BetterHelp and from day 1, she has listened to me, truly taken the time to get to know me and has provided me so many coping and healing mechanisms. She’s very knowledgeable and has extensive experience. She has been super helpful to me and my needs and I trust that with time, I will get better.
Charlene is really fantastic at what she does. Just from a few sentences, she has been able to perceive exactly what I’m feeling and offer me guidance on how to handle it. She is kind and relatable and easy to share with. Charlene is the first professional counselor I’ve ever met with, and I’m so grateful to have been placed with her.
Charlene Thiede is an empathetic listener who has offered me great help in gaining perspective into personal challenges. I was skeptical that on-line counseling would be helpful, but it truly has been.
