My name is Chelsea and I am an LCPC in the state of Maryland, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) from the National Board of Certified Counselors, and an Approved Supervisor with the state of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors. I obtained my Masters from The Johns Hopkins University School of Education and have been practicing in community work with children, teens, families, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness for the past 9 years. I have experience in working with a wide range of clinical concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar and other mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem, adjustment disorders and life transitions, behavioral and emotional disturbances, relationship issues, and family conflict.
I practice from a person-centered approach and draw from Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Motivational Interviewing interventions. I believe that the therapeutic alliance is one the most significant predictors of successful outcomes in therapy. I foster this through empathy, validation, and unconditional positive regard for each of my clients. I am passionate about challenging the stigma related to mental health and educating the public in order to reduce the labels associated with it.
