Hello! My name is Cheryl and I’m glad that you are taking this courageous step forward with seeking support – you are absolutely worth it!
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the helping profession. I am also an ACE Certified Health Coach. I strongly believe in the mind/body connection and my therapeutic approach incorporates both modalities. My background is diverse and includes mental health and chemical dependency counseling and health, career and academic coaching. I consider myself to be open, honest, and non-judgmental and believe that a sense of humor is an essential component of dealing with life’s challenges (and like to sprinkle a little of this into sessions every now and then!)
I’m originally from Upstate New York and have lived in the Southeast the past 15 years. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the State University of New York at Oneonta and have also received advanced training in health coaching and mindfulness.
Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals, I create a tailored approach for each person and situation. I am person-centered and offer acceptance, empathy, and guidance as you work on personal growth and positive change.
This is your unique journey and I am here to support and encourage you in finding your path to a more fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Cheryl Van Dyke. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Cheryl makes me feel validated and opening up to her is so easy. I look forward to speaking with her on a weekly basis and always wish I had more time with her. She has helped me significantly in just the last 2 months, people around me have been noticing changes in me for the better. Cheryl also mentions how proud of me she is for taking these steps for the betterment of myself.
After only a couple of sessions, I feel comfortable with Cheryl and feel like she understands what I’m looking for in counseling. I feel confident that she can help me work through some of the issues I am dealing with right now. Highly recommend her!
Cheryl was the first person I ever opened up to. She helped me find my voice and learn better coping mechanisms or ways to talk to others about what I am feeling. I have grown so much since we started working together and will miss her greatly.
Love my therapy sessions
Cheryl is so thoughtful and caring! I would highly recommend her and BetterHelp to anyone. She gets back to me quickly and has lots of ways to help me along with goal setting and self esteem journal and groupanares discussion. This has been one of the most trying times of my life and couldn’t get through it without her!!!!!
Best therapy experience I’ve ever had. She’s accessible, holds me accountable, and is very realistic on how she approaches very difficult subjects.
Cheryl Van Dyke is a skilled, perceptive therapist whose extensive knowledge and experience in her field are made evident almost immediately. In addition to being able to provide thoughtful guidance and strategies for growth, she is also a genuinely kind person who brings warmth and safety to difficult conversations.
Cheryl has been such a help to me and has encouraged me, supported me, and given me a number of resources that have facilitated me even further on my road to recovery (:
Just after one session I felt so much better! Being able to share my struggles to someone unbiased felt like a weight off my shoulders. My counselor Cheryl is amazing and makes me feel so comfortable!
Cheryl has been very helpful. She has been very nice and caring.
Cheryl is an amazing counselor, is very understanding of my issues and needs that brought me to counseling, and is very supportive. Cheryl is very easy to talk to and has an extremely welcoming personality, making it almost natural to share with her how you are feeling. Cheryl seems to be very invested and passionate about her work and helping her clients reach their short term and long term goals to living a happier and healthier life.
Cheryl has been attentive to my doubts and concerns and guided me to look for my own answers to them. Apart from the live sessions every week, she has been always supportive on the chat, replying with written or video messages very quickly. And I found this works to me very much. I am really grateful that Cheryl can be with me on BetterHelp. Thank you, Cheryl.
