About me

My name is Christine Crawford. I go by Chris. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW#52059) in the state of Texas.

My counseling style is client-centered and compassion-based. I believe that everyone deserves good mental health care and I enjoy providing tele-health therapy services because it makes therapy so much more accessible and convenient. I strive to provide my clients with a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space where they can work to overcome whatever challenges they are experiencing so that they can live their best, most joyful lives. I specialize in working with people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship difficulties, stress management, grief/loss, gender identity, sexuality, LGBT+ issues, professional development, and trauma. I incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Biofeedback into my therapeutic approach.

I grew up in Michigan and got my Bachelor's Degree at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Upon graduation, I moved to Texas and got my Master's Degree in Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. I worked in Child Protective Services for a short time before succumbing to burnout and compassion fatigue. I took a job in Hospice out of pure desperation, and discovered that I loved it. I have been a Hospice Social Worker for over 12 years and I still do it part time. The thing I enjoy most about providing end-of-life care is that I have the opportunity to work with the entire spectrum of humanity, I get to see the most loving and compassionate sides of human nature, and I get to help people live the rest of their lives with comfort, dignity, and peace. I currently live in the suburbs of Austin with my husband, toddler, and rescue mutt. I enjoy walks, crafting, reading, podcasts, thrift store shopping, and yoga.

Reaching out for help when you are struggling is incredibly brave. I am so glad that you are taking care of yourself, and I look forward to getting to know you!

Chris was the best! She helped me get to grips with my gender identity and on a path towards socially and medically transitioning :)

Chris is helping me to understand and improving myself as human being. She makes you think, and try to find the best way to deal with the matter. She helped me to pass a very deep and dark part of my life.

I've only had one session so far as I'm very busy at the moment. But this has gone above and beyond to help me schedule and given me great resources to look at. As I've only had one session I cant give a super well rounded answer but she seems great!

Chris is a kind and caring listener and provides resources to help. She understands that sometimes you just want to release emotions and feelings without feeling judged or like a problem that needs to be fixed. Thank you for making me feel heard and totally normal for having a plethora feelings during quarantine.
