Christina Garza, LPC
About me
Hi! My name is Christina Garza. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor in the state of Texas. I received my Masters of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Family and Individual Psychotherapy from Our Lady of the Lake University. I have 8 years of counseling experience. I work with individuals, couples, children, adolescents, and families from a variety of backgrounds dealing with mental health issues and daily life stressors.
For the past five years, I have provided counseling to Veterans and their family members struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, and relationship issues. I use an eclectic approach when counseling. I provide counseling using evidence-based practices, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gorski’s CENAPS model for Relapse Prevention as therapeutic approaches to help you reach your goals.
My goal is to help you achieve your goals and sustain them. I do that by working collaboratively with you in finding out what your goals are. You are the expert of yourself, and I am here to help you hone in on your strengths and not fear your weaknesses. Through a collaborative approach, goals can be achieved. My passion is to empower you to find hope in healing from concerns and disorders that keep you from moving forward successfully. It takes courage to seek help; counseling is your safe haven. I hope the process of counseling provides you hope in healing and empowers you to continue to move forward.
I look forward to meeting and working with you!
