About me

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. I am a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) licensed in California with over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, issues pertaining to sexuality, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and issues pertaining to spirituality. I also helped many people who have experienced physical and sexual trauma or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is warm and down to earth. My goal is to create an environment where you feel at ease talking about what is in your heart and on your mind. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and psycho-dynamic counseling. And I love Tapping! Tapping is a really great technique to destress and process intense feelings. With that said, each person is different and has different needs. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is about teaming up to give you the insight, inner wisdom and motivation to make the changes you want in your life. We will come up with a plan to work on improving your current situation. Some people simply need a compassionate person to hear them out. Some people may want a concrete action plan with steps and advise on how to proceed. Our work is to collaborate and come up with a plan that would be most effective in meeting your needs.

On a practical matter, my office hours are between 9 am and 8 pm, Monday through Friday. I will respond to messages within 24 hours. If you would like a video chat session during a time that is not listed, please send me a message and we may be able to work out scheduling a time that works for both of our schedules.

"Out of clutter, find simplicity. Out of discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity." Albert Einstein

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature." Marcus Aurelius

I look forward to working with you!

Respectfully,
Christina Kohfield, LMFT 78980

Christina got me through one of the hardest years of my life. I’m huge into personal development and doing the work, and I feel that our style, work and pacing is well matched and precise. I’m just so incredibly grateful to have found her. I hope to have a working relationship with her for a very long time.

Christina is amazing. I’ve been seeing her weekly for more than a year. I look forward to her feedback and love that she is a confidant.

She’s the best.

Christina has been such a blessing these past few months. Her ability to create such a warm and carefree environment is just what I needed for my own issues. I don’t feel like I need to filter my feelings during my sessions with her and she allows me to feel all my feels. Most of the time it feels like I’m sitting and talking with a very wise friend but there have been plenty of times when she knows exactly when to get deep and help me get to the root of things. I honestly cannot thank her enough. She has truly left a lasting impact on me. ❤️

Christina is like the friend that we all need and want. She is the type of person who just says exactly what needs to be said as she is seeing things. After all that's why so many of us are coming seeking for therapy right? to be heard? to be seen? understood?

Christina is the person who does those things for me at least, it feels much less like im speaking to someone who is providing therapy, and more like a friend that i can send a text to whenever im down.

thank you for everything you have done so far for me Christina, i have no doubt you will be a help to so many others, and i hope others get to share the same experience i am having
