Christopher McFarland, LCSW
About me
I am licensed in Illinois with over 25 years of professional work experience in Child Welfare Services, Inpatient and Outpatient Substance Use Treatment, and Supportive Therapy in Private Practice.
I like to use an eclectic approach which draws on techniques from more than one type of therapy. I use whatever is best suited to meet the patients’ needs, with a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalysis, and Person-Centered Therapy. I use clinical expertise to guide my practice and tailor therapy to the individual client.
I have extensive experience in helping clients with Substance Use Disorders, assisting clients to cope with problematic drinking and other substances, coping with family problems related to substance abuse, motivation to change, self-esteem, and self-confidence. I have 12 step experience and experience working with individuals with depression and anxiety.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
