About me

Christopher Wells
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Certified Addictions Counselor, Clinical Level 2

A well seasoned practitioner of human growth and development across many unique fields. I am a natural educator and psychotherapist who has studied human hearts, minds and spirit in several global and professional settings. My therapy practice includes the use of blended evidence based models, relying on increased mindfulness and deepened relationship with oneself as the primary drivers of change and growth. I tend to be light hearted and love humor and wit, even in therapeutic partnerships. I am NOT medically minded. That is, I do not perceive mental health symptoms as pathology, sickness, but rather as the voice of a self that has been distanced, displaced or silenced for reasons both known and unknown. We will get to know that voice, to know that self to enjoy the dissolving of distress and restoration of positive energy.

My education - My studies began with an Associates of Arts degree at East Los Angeles College as a gateway to Immaculate Heart College (IHC), also in Los Angeles. My Bachelor of Arts from IHC is in Human Growth and Development, an adaptable blend of Developmental Psychology and Education. Graduate studies began at Antioch University in Los Angeles. At Antioch I completed a Master of Arts with a double major in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling and Developmental Psychology. Since licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have studied Addictions Counseling at the Colorado School for Family Therapy and have completed over 30 graduate credits in Special Education, Severe Affective Needs at the University of Northern Colorado.

I am so grateful I got paired with Chris. He provided a safe space and was always so encouraging and light hearted. My sessions with him really helped me get through a rough patch. I felt lighter and more me than I had ever felt. I look forward to implementing what I learned from him.

I had signed up for a virtual therapy before, with another company, and just felt that what I wanted to work on were silly issues. Chris has not made me feel that way at all. He has really made it a safe space for me to open up and start working towards my true self. He encourages me, and helps me seek value in myself. I am extremely grateful to have found him and happy to continue on this journey.
