About me

My name is Christy Damrath and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia. I earned my BSW and MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University. Since 2012 I have worked with adult clients experiencing mental illnesses, first in a community based setting and then in an outpatient setting. I have worked with clients experiencing Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Grief and Loss, ADD/ADHD, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I work to build a genuine rapport with clients from the beginning of the first session. I enjoy listening to clients, asking questions, and helping clients identify their goals and work towards reaching their potential. During sessions, I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness approaches to assist clients with processing their thoughts and feelings and to practice the use of healthy coping skills. I look forward to meeting you and working together with you soon.

I'm so lucky to have found Christy through BetterHelp. She understands me so well! She has this amazing ability to put her finger on the exact problem I'm having and offer sound insight and guidance about how to deal with any situation. She provides the kind of sounding board that I just can't get from my spouse, family, or friends. That I can talk to her late at night from my computer late is an added bonus, as I am a busy mom to two young kids. I always highly recommend BetterHelp to all my friends!

I am so happy to have the opportunity to meet with Christy. I have been able to recognize tremendous self-growth as a result of working with her. She is kind, compassionate, and offers up options for approaching a situation. She has helped me build confidence in my decision-making, provided me with tools to work through feelings of being overwhelmed/anxious, and helped me to see my self-worth. I highly recommend working with Christy.
