Claire Field, BACP
About me
I became a person-centred psychotherapeutic counsellor because I love being a part of, and witnessing someone's emotional and psychological recovery. As humans, what connects us I believe is the desire to receive unconditional love and respect. I believe that the counselling relationship offers a unique opportunity to experience someone who can empathise with us in a genuine, authentic relationship, whether or not we have serious problems or crises. I have been practising as a counsellor for 10 years. I mainly work with people who have experienced the trauma of relational abuse, whether that be in childhood or as an adult, but am also happy to work with you on other issues if you would like to contact me.
The counselling relationship can offer a freedom that we may not find in other relationships - having someone to listen to us without judging, taking over and telling us what to do, what to think, how to be; and not having to feel that we are burdening friends or family unreasonably with our worries and concerns.
Counselling can offer the time, freedom and space to explore our problems and be trusted and helped to find our own solutions and strategies, to work out what feels right to do, or where to go next. Talking things through with me, as a trained, qualified and experienced counsellor, will usually help you to get clarification or resolution.
I also supervise other counsellors and psychotherapists, and write the Rainbow Therapy Tools guides book series available on Amazon.
I am a Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP). I am also a member of the Person-centred Association.

Claire has been excellent in our sessions. She is easy to talk with, very kind and compassionate. She has helped me make sense of quite a few things so far that have been difficult to think about and work through on my own previously.

Claire is helping me go through one of the toughest times in my life. She proves to me that there's really a living person with the competency who wants to help without judging, that good therapists exist, and that they are in fact not just a myth.

Claire's calm and compassionate manner are greatly appreciated. Listening intently without judgment to allow you to rationalize your own thoughts and behaviour patterns, to aid personal development and growth but also identify, explore and challenge certain limiting beliefs. This helps cultivate a more wholesome awareness of self, that would just not be possible to achieve without her gentle yet thought provoking questions delivered at the right time (without judgment) but also as an impartial understanding ally, who is in your corner. Super grateful for Claire's support in this mindset exploration.
