About me

My name is Cletus (Clete) Deller and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (20 years experience) who started out my professional career as a teacher. As far as approach, I use both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Action and Commitment Therapy, (ACT).

I have two Graduate Degrees (an MS in Psychology and Counseling, and an MBA), Post Graduate Certification in Forensic Psychology, certification as a Sexual Therapist, and an additional 40 graduate hours, focused primarily on trauma.

I am trained and certified in the only evidenced-based scientific treatments, strongly recommended by the American Psychology Association (Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-based CBT). These 3 protocols have the highest efficiency of any of the trauma approaches, and are the only protocols designed for Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (you have more than one traumatic event in your life, or the trauma happened in childhood).

I am also trained in EMDR (designed for one event), and Flash EMDR. My position is you should be able to select between all of the sciences-based approaches - not just the one the therapist decides to learn. Would you go to a restaurant, with only one item on the menu?

I also have experience in working with individuals, and couples in the area of addiction (addiction has a 80% correlation with trauma). I developed, wrote, and managed, a 90 day substance abuse program in 3 major Florida jails, that had a 72% to 76% success rate, over a 4 year period,

In addition to addiction and trauma, I have experience in working with people with a past, or current relationship, with someone with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and/or Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which is the only recognized treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder. I am also trained in Ideal Parent Figure (IPF), which is the only scientific approach to treating adults with Attachment Disorders. In addition, I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.

I am a not a Christian counselor, but a Counselor who is a Christian. What that means is that I can use both scientifically validated approaches to solving mental health issues, and Christian counseling techniques, if requested. The goal is always to craft the right plan, for the person that is seeking help.

There is an important difference between my therapy, and that of 95% of the Betterhelp therapists. I AM NOT A TALK THERAPIST. That does not mean that talk isn't important. It is very important. But it cannot be all that we do together. If most of what we do is talk, inside of several sessions, you will end up with a "PAID BEST FRIEND".

The therapy I use is unique, but it works, given a chance. Be prepared to work with me, but in the end, you will have the life you always wanted.

You will find me a therapist that is laser-focused on you, non-judgmental, empathetic, trustworthy, a people person, and especially results oriented. It would be an honor to work with you as an individual, or a couple.

Cletus listens carefully to what I am saying and provides well thought out responses. I feel safe confiding in him, not because of the separation and virtual anonymity that electronic therapy provides. Rather, I get a sense that he gets pleasure from knowing that he is providing the best support that he can for my achieving the best results possible. Through his patient guidance, I have learned not only what my major issues are, but how deeply seated those issues reside. Change for the better is inevitable. I have much gratitude for that.

Cletus is compassionate and engaging. He is approachable and I felt able to open up fully right away. He listens and never judges me . I always feel I'm in a safe space with him and always come away feeling empowered, with a lighter outlook on my situation.
