About Me

ABOUT ME

If you are exploring Betterhelp, it is likely that you are wanting to make some changes in your life. Finding the right therapist to help you achieve your goals is important. I want to provide you with information about me that will help you decide if my experience and style is right for you.

I hold a Ph.D., in clinical social work and am dually licensed as both a clinical and macro social worker. I utilize a Strength Perspective (the things you are already good at) and multiple other theoretical perspectives to assist you in achieving your goals.

Healing is a process and requires commitment, compassion, and non-judgment. I am passionate about meeting individuals and couples where they are (which means simply working on the goals you choose) and advocating for my clients. My specialty is working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and trauma (physical, sexual, emotional and medical).

Someone once asked me "How can you work with people in such pain and listen to all the horrible things people have endured". I responded by saying, "Oh, it's not like that! When I meet someone who is seeking counseling, I am meeting someone who has already decided they want a change in their life. I am meeting someone who is stronger than they realize and someone who is willing to share with me their journey of healing and growing. I love watching someone learn about their strengths and seeing them create a life they love and deserve". It's an honor.

Written by J.O. on Apr 20, 2022 after therapy with Constance for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, and coping with life changes

Constance is a breath of fresh air! I have been looking for a counselor for a couple of years now and no one seemed to be quite the right fit. I love how experienced she is in her field. She is a good listener and is already (I have had two appointments with her) equipping me with tools to use to help me work through some of the issues I wanted help with. I am looking forward to more sessions with Constance as I genuinely believe she is going to help me on my journey of healing and mental wellness.

I have seen different therapists at various stages in my life and Constance Averill has proven to be one of the best in truly listening to me and offering sage advice. I feel like my time with her is a gift. I sense that we navigate our ways through the world in similar ways, but she is enough older (read wiser!) than me, so she helps give me essential perspective. Her total presence and very pure desire to help others is felt in every moment of our time together. There is no faking the kindness she brings into the world.

Constance has been absolutely wonderful in helping me so far on my journey - talking to her has enabled me to help improve my mood and work on previous behaviours for a more positive and progressive personal growth.

Constance has changed my life in two sessions. I have never felt more safe or at peace, than with Constance. She has more than the qualifications; she cares beyond her requirements. I feel like I have a friend more than anything. She gives me such confidence and strategies to live my life the healthiest I can. Again, only two sessions.

Constance is very attentive and puts her patients at ease to open up. I appreciated her sharing her stories to make it easier for me to share mine. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with her for the duration of my therapy sessions.

She is easy to talk to. She makes sure that you know that she understands you and that’s very important in a therapist. She is a good listener and a great friend. She helped me through my trauma more than anyone in my life did.

I had my first appointment last week. I would recommend Constance. We had a very good conversation about things. I look forward to the next one. The only reason I marked almost confident is because I don't have confidence in anything right now. Not her issue, it's mine.

Constance is kind, patient, a great listener that also offers good insight and self help books to help navigate certain areas in life. I feel comfortable talking to her and she is easy to open up to. I would highly recommend her.
