Devoted to not only assist you in embark on a journey of self-discovery, but also, ways in which you can best utilize the gifts that you possess! I am an ambitious, strength based counselor yearning to change the ways that we view mental health. I graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University where I obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My professional credentials include Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), and Certified Clinical Supervisor Intern (CCS-I) in the state of North Carolina.
My expertise stems in the treatment and management of co-occurring disorders, of which include experience in working with trauma-related disorders, anxiety/depression related disorders, substance use disorder, as well as aspects of various mood and personality disorders! Although I consider myself to have knowledge in several treatment interventions, I utilize Solution Focused Therapy, Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, as well as Behavioral Therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (CBT/DBT).
My approaches to counseling are grounded in holistic wellness and choice theory. Holistic approaches include inquiry about different aspects that make up your life and that you believe contribute to making you well or less well. These areas include mental wellness, body wellness, spirit wellness, emotional wellness, and connection wellness. I also approach therapy with use of choice theory, which states that humans are motivated by a never-ending quest to satisfy 5 basic needs woven into their genes: to love and belong, to be powerful, to be free, to have fun and to survive. Specifically: survival, belonging, power, freedom, and fun.
I encourage all individuals to lean into the collaborative process of finding solutions to better your mental health, while also facilitating a process of taking ownership of your life.

Corey provides thoughtful feedback and really helps you think through your troubles. He'll never shame or judge you when sharing, something I was self-conscience about before starting therapy. I've always received positive reinforcement or an alternative perspective to help guide me on my self-discovery. I HIGHLY recommend Corey!

Corey is a thoughtful and responsive therapist. Although I know he serves many patients, he always makes me feel as thought I am the most important. His attention to details and checking on me regularly shows his dedication.

Corey is a wonderful, caring, uplifting, patient person that answers in a timely manner. He has the upmost respect on peoples emotion, physical or mental. Corey also provides worksheets that are essential to my problems. His sympathy and empathy is what drew me in continuing BetterHelp, and better yet continuing to communicate when we can. Thanks Corey!!!

I've been working with Corey for only a couple of weeks and I have never covered so much ground with a therapist before! Corey has a very straight-forward approach that gets to the nitty-gritty of the issues at hand. I love how his questions encourage me to stop and think and are stated in such a way that allows me to work toward a solution on my own with his guidance. Corey only does messaging through BetterHelp, but that actually works better for me. He responds quickly and thoroughly to the point that I feel I am getting so much more out of this than past face-to-face therapy sessions. I highly recommend!

I have just started therapy with Corey and already feel like my life is changing for the better because his comments and considerations are detailed are thought provoking. You have to put in the work to challenge your thought life from the get go and doing that impartially through a trained therapist as opposed to family or friends is quite a remarkable experience. I highly recommend Corey Pitts.

Corey is fantastic. We have built a rapport very quickly that has made casual conversation very easy. That casual conversation has been so critical to analyzing the variables in my life that effect my mental health. Highly recommend Corey to anyone, especially those who are unceartain about therapy.

I had been text messaging with Corey for about a month now. Although he is limited to texting or voice recordings I have not found this to be an issue. If anything, he leverages text messaging to assist in constructing well thought out responses to one's questions and concerns. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a therapist but may be too shy to voice or just simply appreciate a slower pace to questions and answers.

Corey has been great thus far. I feel listened to. Just in our short discussions he has asked question that have helped me think outside of my typical patterns. I'm looking forward to further conversation and work.

So far in my sessions with Corey, he has been the type of counsellor I needed. He is professional, empathetic, and offers multiple tools for my success. Corey allows me to speak how I am feeling and asks me constructive questions to help me think deeper about the things I need to improve. Corey replies promptly which is really nice for clients looking for more of a messaging centred experience! Thank you so much Corey! Your support has been such a difference in my life.

I’ve only been talking with Corey Pitts for about two weeks. Every effort I’ve made with previous counselors failed and I wasn’t comfortable with them however, it’s easy to talk with him. He listens and is patient and he responds as quickly as possible. I was hesitant and was thinking of giving up on finding a counselor but thought I’d give it one more try, and now I understand why counseling is helpful.

Corey is phenomenal. Attentive. Quick to respond and has a way of making me feel like I am a priority in his day to day even though I'm sure he's slammed busy. I was going to make this a one month trial but have decided that my life and my perspective has already improved with a few weeks of Coreys help. I am forming better relationships with others and am understanding myself better than I ever have in 26 years of life. Thank you Corey.
