Cory Nelson, LPC
About me
I am a professional counselor licensed in South Dakota. I have over 20 years of experience. I have worked with clients ranging in age from 3 to 85 and have assisted clients as they work on their concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, relationship issues, loss and grief, and addiction.
Years ago, I became a fan of the superhero, Spider-Man. His guiding philosophy is “With great power comes great responsibility.” I adhere to this philosophy in counseling. I treat others with respect and compassion. I understand the journey of counseling can be daunting, especially as the journey begins. I view my role as being collaborative as we identify where you’d like to go. I believe it is important that everyone have an environment where they can feel safe and supported. My approach combines client-centered and cognitive-behavioral counseling.
If you are ready to start your journey I am here to walk with you.
I look forward to working with you.

Cory is extremely good at listening. He's listened to every one of my problems, and has taken his time to truly understand me. He's helped me with things that I didn't think would ever be helped.

Cory Nelson has helped me in so many ways, it is hard to put into words. Through work stress, family crisis, and just the day-to-day stress of the world, Cory has been able to help me identify what exactly is causing me anxiety and has given me the tools and confidence to help suppress it. In both big and small ways, my life has gotten better since talking to Cory. Not only is he able to actively listen to what I am saying, but he is able to see beyond the words and identify the true reason I am anxious, when I may not even realize it myself. I am grateful to have him to talk to, and am so thankful for his insight.
