Dale Thompson, LCSW
About me
Hi, I'm Dale. Turns out life is not so easy after all. We find ourselves dealing with situations we would not have expected. At times, we feel that things are getting out of control or have already done so. Perhaps you have decided, or someone has encouraged you, that it is time to partner with someone professionally. Perhaps I can help. We were created to work in teams. But working with or coping with others is often one of the greatest challenges. We can also just be imperfect in the roles we perform in life.
Early in my adult life, I set out on a mission to serve others. I worked in many capacities related to this life purpose of helping others increase their capacity for healing, coping, forgiving, and self-management. It encourages me when a person in need shows the courage and strength to reach out, open the door, or get on a video call to team up with me or another provider/helper. Trust the process, your inner spirit, and that there is good intended for your life beyond suffering, confusion, or pain you are currently experiencing.
I have served 20 years as an officer, counseling military service members and their families. I have multiple deployments as a mental health provider. I also have experience working with individuals in psychiatric hospitals, the justice system, the mission field/church, and elementary and middle school education and counseling. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, I have experienced my own ups and downs. I am a family man with a wife and 4 children, three are now adults. One small part of my life experience is living with pain from a traumatic accident. I had extended multiple surgeries, hospital stays and have progressed from bedridden to walking without assists. I have experience with suffering, disappointment, and recovery. God is the center of my life, and my service to ALL is based on respect for personal decision making, love and honesty.
This process is not about me. It is about you, and me meeting you where you are. And you, at some point, moving forward assured of the person you want to be and the tools to get there.
I specialize in a range of areas including anger management, family relationships, grief/bereavement, suffering and pain, military/veteran issues, multicultural/diversity issues, PTSD, intimate/romantic relationships, sex/intimacy, sleep disorders, spirituality, stress, trauma, aging and life transition issues, depression, anxiety, ADHD, medical issues/physical health, and parental and family support. My approach is holistic and tailored to meet your unique needs in a therapeutic relationship.
If you're ready to take the next step, let's connect and work together towards your goals. I look forward to partnering with you on this journey.
