About me

Hello, I am Dana Rummery and I look forward to getting to know you! I am an Art Therapist (masters level clinician, registered with the American Art Therapy Association and board certified MA, ATR-BC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), licensed in Pennsylvania with 18 years of professional experience. I have experience working with patients and families managing terminal and chronic illness within the hospice setting and in their homes, helping clients with stress and anxiety, caregiver fatigue and family conflict, coping with grief and loss, & coping with life changes.

I have worked with people of all ages, using both verbal and therapeutic arts interventions, to cope with the difficulties of life and find joy again. The work I do with clients is goal oriented and focused on what brings you joy, creating and finding meaning, focusing on what can bring you closer to who you want to be and who you want to connect with.

I work from a humanistic/person centered and strength based approach. When life feels difficult it can be hard to see and engage with the parts of ourselves and our lives that bring us meaning and connection. We will focus on what you want your life to look like. Acknowledging the traumas, difficulties, and barriers are an important step of the process, but we will primarily focus on what you can change and are willing to change after discussing those barriers. I can introduce a variety of treatment interventions to address your concerns until you find a path forward that fits for you. I am also trained in eco/nature based therapy and find that engaging in the natural world can be a useful approach for some people.

If you are grieving the loss of someone important to you we will focus on coping, connection, and memorializing your loved one. No matter how recent or distant your loss is it can be difficult figure out how to moved through the world without your person.

For those interested in therapeutic arts interventions, I will work with you to come up with projects/ tasks that can help bring clarity. You don't need to have any experience with creating or much in the way of art supplies to engage in therapeutic art reflection. If you have no interest in creating, that's ok too, my job is to be present to your needs and help you create and engage with your goals to live more fully.

When life is hard and you know you need help, it can be really difficult to ask for help. The fact that you're here looking for help is huge, and you should be proud of yourself. I look forward to helping you!
