About Me
Maya Angelou once said, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." I believe that each person has a story to tell and I am someone who genuinely wants to know yours. My name is Danielle Cummings and I have had experience counseling many individuals, couples, families, and groups. My passion is to deeply connect with each person I come in to contact with and be present with them in that moment. I love my partner of over 16 years of marriage and my two beautiful children ages 9 and 11. I have three dogs that provide me with therapeutic connection and love through their unconditional acceptance. I enjoy being in nature in all its forms and have travelled and lived in many places (Shanghai, China was my favorite). I seek to understand people from all different socio-economic, cultural, racial/ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds. I strive to make an impact on this world for and with the marginalized population.
Will you imagine with me for a moment? You are a driver in a vehicle and I am in the passenger seat. Where are we going? Only you know where that vehicle will take us if you are willing to trust me as a partner in our approach to work together towards your goals. I utilize my gifts of intuition, empathy, compassion, wisdom, and passion to authentically connect with you, help you feel safe and lead you to a healthier, more fulfilling life. You are the expert on your own life. Are you willing to take a chance and let me get to know you and help you navigate the great struggle of humanity that we call life?
Through my experience of working in the community mental health setting I have had the opportunity to work with a multitude of people from all ages (4-85) with a variety of mental health struggles. In my experience I have utilized techniques from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution-Focused, mindfulness techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic therapy, as well as many others. I graduated from Johnson University in Knoxville, TN with a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy/ Professional Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Indiana.
Over the past year, during this pandemic many people have begun to question what is the purpose of my life? Am I satisfied in my relationships, in my job, etc? There is no greater time than now to start your personal journey towards healing. I will never push you to go where you do not want to go, but I am willing to go wherever it is that you need to go. Whether that is digging up the deep roots from your childhood of abuse, neglect, pain, sorrow, or other such difficulties that created your core beliefs about yourself and how you interact with others. Or if you want to focus on the here and now, present circumstances that you need relief and support from. Then I am the therapist for you.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Danielle Cummings. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Danielle is amazing! She actively listens to me and makes me feel like a person and is very personable. I highly recommend her.
Danielle is an excellent therapist. She's very attentive to your needs and helps put you in the driver seat of your therapy experience. She's very down to earth and easy to talk to, which I appreciate very much in a therapy session. She makes me feel like I'm talking to an old friend who only wants to see me be successful.
Danielle understands why I'm here and has helped me a lot with some of the things I am going through. She listens and has great feedback. I've noticed a significant difference in how I communicate and am much calmer in challenging situations. Danielle is what has made the difference not only in this, but in how I view myself.
Danielle has been vital to my success in therapy. She listens and gives me the tools I need to help myself succeed. I'm so thankful to have found her!
Danielle has been an incredibly helpful resource in identifying the root causes of some of my mental health issues. Her knowledge, expertise, patience, and compassion have not only helped me greatly improve my overall mental health state, but has also given me the courage and confidence to continue my therapy and recommend her, and BetterHelp as a resource to others.
She is so kind, it's almost like I'm just chatting with a friend. But she is good at keeping the topic on track to help me.
Danielle has been a wonderful therapist for me. I feel like I’m talking with a friend and she makes me comfortable and it’s easy to open up about myself. This is my first experience with therapy and I can see and feel the difference it’s making in my life.
Danielle has been very helpful in helping me overcome trauma! She has been very present and supportive and has reminded me of my worth! I really appreciate my journey with Danielle together, it has gone very well :)
I have only had a few sessions with Danielle, but in those few sessions I already feel supported in my decisions for therapy, I feel safe in talking to her about things I haven’t talked to other about. I have never been more confident in my therapy sessions. I appreciate all that she does for me and other patients. She also uses my correct pronouns and is well educated the on lgbtq+ Community.
Danielle is amazing. She is kind, thoughtful, intelligent and really makes me want to put the work in to be the best version of myself. I am endlessly thankful for her expertise and advice. Healing is never easy, but when you have someone who cares and really wants to help you get the tools to do it, life becomes so much brighter.
