About Me

Hi, I’m Dani, I am a registered art therapist and licensed professional counselor. I have been practicing in Wisconsin for over 8 years. I received my Master’s degree in Art Therapy with a Concentration in Counseling in 2011, and have been practicing art therapy and traditional counseling with a wide array of individuals with various mental health and behavioral disorders. I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, ADHD, substance use disorders, individuals experiencing life changes, and many other concerns.

As a registered art therapist, naturally, I specialize in art therapy. However, this does not limit my services solely to art therapy. I have extensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused therapy, motivational interviewing, person centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Therefore, if you do not feel that art therapy is your thing, we can just talk instead.

For those of you wondering, art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that combines the creative process of art making and/or creative writing with the theories of psychology. Creating art can in and of itself be a form of self-expression and healing, but it can also be used as a tool to facilitate verbal communication and to help achieve therapeutic goals. Art therapy is a relatively non-intrusive form of therapy that can help people of all ages express difficult thoughts and feelings. Art therapy is about self-exploration and healing and not about making “good” art. Therefore, prior experience or skill in art is not required in order to successfully engage in art therapy.

I take a very trauma informed approach to counseling. Many of us have experienced traumatic events in our life, and it is important to acknowledge that these traumas from our past could have an impact on how we heal. I also believe in a person centered approach, meaning you are in control of the goals you want to work on. I will work with you to set your own goals, and we will take the necessary steps together to help you meet them.

I look forward to working with you, be well,

Dani Hoskins

Danielle is very responsive and understanding. I have only been using BetterHelp for a little while now, and she has made it a lot easier to tell her what's all going on. Can't thank her enough for all the support!

Danielle has a very positive aspect on things, but also acts like a real person that truly understands how difficult things are. She also uses her resources to help me understand better of what's going on with me a ways to work though them. If something doesn't help, then she finds another way.

Danielle is wonderful. She does a great job staying in touch and taking the time to listen to concerns. All of her advice has been very helpful so far.
