I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with a master’s degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. I have worked with adults, families, couples, children and adolescents for more than 20 years in many different settings (residential treatment, education, individual counseling, equine and adventure therapy). I enjoy skateboarding, ice hockey, playing music and riding horses. I strive to create a compassionate and safe environment where clients can experience lasting change and growth in their lives.
I enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds. In my work I incorporate creativity with proven techniques including Cognitive Behavior Therapy and other techniques to provide treatment that is individualized and the best fit for each client's needs. I take a person-centered, solution focused approach that is safe while challenging at the same time. Our treatment plan will be specific to your wants and needs.
If you are experiencing suicidal ideation please know that online therapy is not appropriate for you at this time and you are encouraged to seek help in your local area. If you are currently working with in-person local providers, online counseling may be appropriate in addition to your in-person services.
I believe that it takes courage to seek help and I am excited to take these steps with you for what I know will be a better tomorrow.

Great counselor who meets you where you are and actively coaches you forward. He's a great person.

Darrin is really great. He is friendly and gentle, so he feels safe to talk to. At the same time, he knows where to push when there's something bothering you and you don't know how to put it into words to bring it to the surface. He can tell where to ask more questions, where to wait, and where to lighten the mood. I think he's got a strong intuition for sensing emotions. Not only do I feel consistently heard, I feel more likely to open up and be fully honest about whatever I need help talking through with him than I have with previous counselors. Thanks, Darrin!

Darrin does an excellent job listening to your issues and asking crucial questions to make you reflect on your position. When you need it he will offer advice, but he is sure he understands your situation as well as possible before doing so. Darrin is good people.

Darrin has been very supportive and thorough. He listens and then breaks down the issues into simple steps and points out the obvious that might have been missed, which actually makes you feel a lot better.
