David has a very diverse background. In addition to Masters in Mental Health Counseling, he has a Maters in Biology/Biochemistry and worked in Research. David changed fields and worked 25 years as a radiochemist which combined nuclear chemistry and physics.
As a counselor his background has been very beneficial in understanding the processes underlying behavior and mental health. As a result of his work in industry David has good people skills which are essential in working with clients with mental health issues.
David provides an eclectic approach in counseling theory and uses Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Counseling, Schema Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. He is trained in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback which are good tools to help clients with issues such as depression, anxiety disorders and addiction. David’s initial approach is to develop a trusting relationship with the client. He then works with the client to identify the specific issues. A treatment plan is developed to address these issues. As treatment proceeds this plan may be revised as specific issues come up. When the client completes the plan he will be reassess. Depending on the clients progress the client may be discharged with specific goals to work on. If there are still unresolved issues a new treatment plan will be developed and treatment continued. If there are issues that require a different approach David may refer the client to another counselor that specializes in the clients specific issues.
On a personal level David has three adult children and two grandsons. David was raised in the mountains of Wyoming and has a place south of Jackson Hole which he spends as much time as he can. There his closest neighbors are elk, moose, and wolves. David lives most of the time in Boise. He has been fortunate to have traveled the world a great deal spending time in South East Asia and China. He recently spent time in Tuscany and in Malta. He still skis, canoes, loves to fly fish and generally spend time in nature.

David has been very helpful. He is calm and easy going, but at the same time makes it clear that he is there to help. I have participated in counseling before and have a lot of knowledge about self-help strategies, but he has provided tools that I was unaware of. I appreciate how quickly he gets back to me and the practical solutions he offers. He is not pushy or bossy and yet is very helpful and supportive. I would recommend David to anyone.
David Demorest is a wonderful counselor, and I have had plenty to compare him too. He seems genuinely interested in my problems. He is very easy to talk to and gives several ways to do it. Whatever makes you comfortable. He has wide range background so he has many ideas of what can help. To me, when I converse with David it's like I'm talking to my older brother. I cannot say enough about him. I think he is wonderful and very helpful.
I’ve only been working with David for a short period of time, but it has been xtremely eye opening and he really understands my concerns and helps me address them. I appreciate the different approaches David takes to assist me with my struggles. I am slowly making progress, and David constantly checks in on me which I also appreciate very much. Online therapy is definitely a game changer, and for the best, now I am getting to where I would like to be.
