About me
Life sometimes involves significant challenges. Although prompting discomfort, and even perhaps significant distress, many are normal parts of our human lives. Challenges can sometimes overwhelm our coping abilities and cause a decrease in our ability to function in our daily lives. Inviting a professional counselor to join you at a time like this can be very helpful.
As a counselor, I provide complete undivided focus on you, with excellent non-judgmental deep listening, and authentic respect and acceptance. My style is very supportive and collaborative. I see myself not as an "expert," but rather, as a 'consultant' -- here to be at your service, and address the issues of concern to you.
Together, we jointly work to identify, make sense of, and process your situation and all of the contributing factors involved. As you are able to see your situation with greater clarity, I will work with you to explore, identify, and ultimately select goals that will help you to: (1) stabilize your immediate situation; and (2) that will give you tools that you can then use to improve your ability to manage problem situations in general in your life, as well as effective strategies for pursuing unused or newly-appearing opportunities.
This, ideally, gives you hope, improved self-esteem and confidence, and ultimately, a genuine belief in your ability to handle challenging situations that may arise in your future. My core belief is that: "We're all in this together; we've got to help each other." I would be honored to get to know you and to work together! Thank you for considering me to be your counselor.
