About Me

Hi! My name is David. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been practicing for 35 years. I graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Ecology in 1983. From California State University at Fullerton I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling in 1985.

I began counseling in a high school setting in Santa Ana, CA, under the supervision of a licensed Marriage Family and Child Counselor in 1983. I received my first counseling license in 1987. In 1990 I moved to Texas, where I provided in-home counseling services to children and their families, for 23 years. In 2013 I returned to my home state of Michigan, where I continue to practice today.

I have addressed many issues with clients over the years, including:
Anxiety/Depression
ADHD/Impulsivity
Anger/Rage
Personality Disorder Clusters
LBGTQ Issues
And others

It’s not uncommon to become confused in life, to need a little help deciding what’s best for you.
But my guess is you are every bit as capable of finding the answers that are right for you as anyone else. And I’d like to help you find them. But I’d like to help you get to the point where you realize you don’t need me. That everything you need in life that’s important, you already have. And like most things you do in life, the more you practice them more proficient you’ll become.

I take a Person-Centered approach to therapy. So how can I help you help yourself? Where would you like to start?

Very clear and open about scheduling. Not ever dismissive, and quite personable while offering frank advice.

David offers a supportive, but honest approach to counselling that I've really appreciated. It's been good to have an external perspective on when I may or may not be overthinking things and it's allowed me to focus on the things that matter most. I'd highly recommend David to others looking for a robust counsellor who will challenge them to improve themselves.

I’ve found David to be a very engaged and attentive listener, who has made helpful suggestions and been very encouraging, whilst letting me set the agenda and come to my own realisations. I found it helpful to speak to an LGBTQ+ counsellor, as I didn’t need to explain this aspect of my life and could assume that he had an understanding of my experiences. Thanks, David!

I appreciate David's help and expertise. It is really calming. I am very impressed that David himself messaged me to follow-up and make sure I am doing okay after I canceled our video chat session and missed responding to his recent messages in a timely manner. He also introduces good resources for breathing exercises, mediation and such. I am grateful of getting matched with David.
