David Spann has truly changed my life. I started seeing him about 1 year and 4 months after my first child was born. I was in the midst of the biggest transformation of my life (motherhood) and I was suffering. Our initial meetings we focused on assessment of my symptoms but never did I have to relive them with him. For example, telling the stories in detail. It was up to me whether or not I wanted to share anything. At first, I thought I had to go through the pain of explaining what has happened to me in order to heal. I was very wrong and now I can see where doing so may have been more damaging to my psyche. David's process was not to relive but it was much more gentle and through his approach I can now say I do not suffer from those things, they are in my past and a lesson for me now to revisit and have gratitude for. With time, listening and trusting his own process David gave me the ability to heal without forcing anything, it all unfolded very naturally.
I recieved homework which I sometimes did and sometimes did not. But David's non judgment made our therapy sessions safe and not another chore for me. When I became ready I did the homework diligiantly every morning (something we worked on was carving out space and time for me to be alone to do this, which at the time was so necessary being a stay at home mom) and slow and steady I began to become “unstuck” as David says. It was the exact approach I needed after trying therapy in the past and not being able to stick with it. After getting unstuck from my Postpartum Depression and other PTSD I was suffering from I was able to create a mindset with David that has now guided me to see the best version of myself without all the debris in the way. This happened when I had a clearer mind though, not when I was in the midst of the hardest thing I had ever gone through. That is where I believe David shines the most, he is extremely intuitive and can listen so well that our conversations were never too much for me. The sessions were exactly what they should be as I believe. Now I work with David on anything at all and it is a journey that I am happy to be on with him. There are many things I could say about David but here are a few: he is kind and compassionate, he is intuitive and strives to be his best self, he is utterly human and relatable, he has a lot of integrity and I feel he is very honest about his process. If you are considering this journey with David, here is your sign. He sees you as your highest self and being seen for that has been why I have had true success in my therapy.

David's pan has been most helpful and helping me identify the trouble areas in my life and most importantly shining a light into the dark areas and given me direction on the pathway to the better version of me. I felt comfortable with David from the start and he definitely has a gift for listening and meeting a person right where they are, which has great results. He is especially gifted with giving a Christian perspective of where you're at, identifying the problem, and given you a path forward which is complimentary of the teachings of Jesus Christ. I highly recommend him to help you find the pathway to the best version of you.

It is really hard to write about my experience with Dave without going into clichés but this indeed was a life-changing experience. He correctly recognized what kind of help I need and adjusted his approach along the way to make sure I am getting what was best for me. He never lost his patience and never tried to push me in any direction. He just kept opening doors but I had to go through them to end up where I am now and he was nothing but helpful and supportive on that journey.
I will always be grateful for this experience.

When I connected with a therapist through Better Help, I was looking for someone who would understand me, help me see and understand my blind spots, and help me get unstuck. David has done that and so much more. I joked with him that he must be the fly in my house because he understands and sees the whole picture. I’ve been amazed considering I've come a long way in a short time. I am grateful for having enough sense to find the help I needed to get unstuck and having a wonderful therapist, David, who has kept all conversations real and checked to help me get unstuck, learn, apply new strategies and grow. For that, I'll forever be grateful to him and Better Help for the online opportunity and the amazing approach to bettering myself. Thank you.

This is my second time working with David Spann. I chose working with him again based on my first experience. I knew that I would get a mental health professional that would actually make a difference. This time around he out performed my expectations once more. It was like reuniting with a caring friend.
While working with him, I feel he takes a personal interest in me and has a genuine concern for my happiness. I could always count on him and his follow-up is so reassuring.
David is a true professional who is intelligent, insightful, compassionate and encouraging. He gave me the tools that will stick with me and really make a difference in my life.

As someone that values learning about myself, and being the best version of myself that I can become, my experience working with Mr. Spann has been a very enlightening. I love the fact that he is direct, knowledgeable, and very helpful in looking at things from a spiritual perspective. He has been very flexible and responsive with regards to my style of communication. I have found him to meet both my needs for knowledge as well as for emotional support. He validates my experience while at the same time pointing out my blindspots. He is very intelligent and yet has a very human quality about him. Having been in the mental health field myself for about 28 years, I can immediately tell if someone is knowledgeable in the field. I would recommend Mr. Spann highly and would give them a 10 on a scale from 1 to 10. He has helped me greatly and has challenged me to forge ahead and grow even during a very difficult time. I am very happy that I was matched with such a high-quality counselor and individual. The experience has surpassed my expectations.

I can’t speak more highly of David. I’ve had therapy in the past and it didn’t make much difference. I decided to try again so I joined BetterHelp. The first two therapists weren’t a good match, but my gosh I got lucky time round. I have never spoken to anyone like David before, I feel so calm after our sessions and he gives me clarity on my problems. He listens, he hears, he asks questions, he’s open to sharing relatable information about his journey, he sends lots of useful text to read through and he has already taught me, in the past month, more about myself and how to communicate than in the last ten years.
He’s teaching me patience, curiosity, to understand the best version of myself and what gets in the way of that person showing up. He remembers the conversations from our previous sessions and seems like he genuinely cares.
I believe everyone comes into your life for a purpose, and at the right time, and David has been the biggest blessing to come into my life this year. I really can’t thank him enough and look forward to our sessions every week!

I've been in therapy before, and thought I had the tools I needed to deal with my occasional trouble with depression and anxiety. But when I got to a point when I was struggling and needed more help, David Spann provided me what I needed to fill some of the gaps in my understanding and make the connections between what I already knew about how to be my best self, and the pieces I was missing. The crucial element in my case was learning how to look at myself with curiosity instead of judgment. This self-judgment was contributing to my feelings of being "stuck," but by accepting myself and allowing myself to feel the way I feel without recriminations, I can find the strength to move forward.

This man has been such a blessing in my life. I could not have asked for a better person to help me figure my life out. He communicated with me regularly and allowed me to work on myself in a safe, non-judgemental space. We put many tools in my tool belt that I can use going forward when my self-defeating beliefs and behaviors start to interfere with my goals. He helped me start to see the world in a more positive and non-judgemental way, and he was honest with me throughout the entire process. David Spann's approach of helping people find the true version of themselves is a helpful one. He makes you dig deep into the parts of yourself that are holding you back. This inevitably causes some internal resistance but is necessary for growth. At times he will have you pause so that he can address parts of what you are saying. This is is helpful in order to pick apart the roots of your concerns although it can feel frustrating when being interrupted in the middle of what you would like to talk about. David is not going to sugar cote anything which can feel abrasive and judgmental at times but can also help you to address things you might be avoiding. David is selective on what he chooses to respond to I assume this is to lead the conversation in a constructive direction. David Spann has been a helpful part of my journey toward my true and empowered self.

I am a very different person today, thanks in large part to the help and guidance David has offered me. I used to stigmatize therapy, and never believed it would help me. But now, I understand that self care is critical for a happy life. Especially during a pandemic, this platform and my counsellor did an excellent job at helping me navigate a complex life and reorient myself to be the best version of me. Therapy is hard. But its worth it to still live. Overall, i've started appreciating being alive again, and looking forward to the good things.

I had been in therapy previously and, although the contexts are completely different, it is great to experience therapy sessions that do not feel "clinical" for a change. I joined BetterHelp to get some much-needed support through my grieving process, but after the first couple of sessions with David I decided to do this long term to explore other avenues beyond my current concern. His approach to therapy feels tailored to the needs I voice as well as to latent ones he picks up on. He is extremely supportive and somehow always perfectly calibrates the balance between empathetic active listening and calls to action to every issue we explore. I am deeply grateful for having been assigned to David!

I have been working with David Spann for over a year now, and the journey of emotional transformation we have been on has truly been life changing. He was the first Counselor appointed to me by BetterHelp, and there was never a thought to switching to anyone else. His consistent no-nonsense direct approach, combined with his compassion and human understanding have let to a paradigm shift in my mental, spiritual and emotional health.
He is courteous, engaging, sardonic, and above all respectful. He combines humor and levity into the exercises and work we undertake, and always checks in a few days later to ask if its being digested and understood in practice. He is engaging in dialogue, and thought provoking, and offers a spiritual/faith-based approach if one wishes. David is quick to respond to messages, and digests the information sent to him as updates in the counseling log, so that every session begins on point ready to tackle the work of the week.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.

David has been a key part of my work on substance abuse recovery, and on working on myself. He’s a great guy and has a very kind heart, but at the same time he doesn’t accept BS. Theres been more then a few times where he either called me out on dishonesty and BS, but in a kindhearted way to get me to see my own truth. Quite simply, if you’re looking for a counselor to BS and give the spin around, don’t waste his time or yours. If you’re looking to really work on yourself and find your own truth, I could not recommend a better person. Keep up the good work David!

I cant speak highly enough about David. I came to BetterHelp about 3 months ago with severe PTSD that was ruining my life and my relationships. In a short time I began to learn better and healthier coping mechanisms, tools to stop and change thought patterns and find a new sense of peace and confidence. What a difference. I would recommend David to anyone that may be seeking help from trauma and anxiety, he is very good.

David is A+! I've seen many therapists over the years, but David has truly been special. He's kind, authentic, genuine, caring and funny, while at the same time being direct and firm in helping me to challenge myself and hold me accountable. From our first conversation, it was clear that he truly understood the circumstances that brought me to BetterHelp, and while I still struggle from time to time, I'm coping much, much better! Thank you, David!
