I am a mental health counselor and therapist for individuals looking to address difficulties related to emotional instability, communication and relationship issues, identity struggles and trauma (of violent and/or religious origin). I work from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) perspective, focused on mindfully accepting without judgment the thoughts and experiences that we often attempt to avoid through various behaviors, with the goal of expanding your flexibility when working through the personal difficulties that come up in life.
I live by the philosophy of therapy that I use, attempting to live a life of careful acceptance of others as they are, without a judgment that blinds me to who they are as whole people. I do not style myself a guru or plan on having you as a client for the rest of your life. Instead, I actively am attempting to work myself out of a job, by helping build skills of thought and emotion you can use to move out of unhelpful and unhealthy habits into a more flexible and resilient way of living.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for David Teachout. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
David has been helpful in getting some issues out - I’m glad to have him available via better help
Having options to reach out through the week is helpful. The response time is fast.
Good discussions that produce actionable items during each session.
David always gives me the space to say what I need and work throug my issues. If he hears me wording something poorly for my mental health he offers alternative ways of looking at the issue or framing what I am dealing with.
After working with him for a few months, I have a better feel for how to regulate and work with my emotions during the day instead of ingnoring them. He als also helped me identify challeges I have with communication and has given me strategies and insight to move forward. He has provided information on external resources such as books and articles as I have requested them.
If you need someone who will listen well and give you well researched advice then David Teachout is a great choice.
David is so easy to open up with. Immediately felt comfortable talking to him. He has a very calming demeanor and listens. Knows exactly when and what to say. I appreciate his wisdom and knowledge, has a way of putting things that are easy to understand and work through. Goes at a pace that doesn't feel pushy. Would recommend him to anyone!
David has been a great resource and I have enjoyed every one of our sessions. I look forward to our weekly sessions. He is easy to talk with. He is understanding, insightful, and comes into each session we have had with an open mind. We talk and all of a sudden I look up and our time is up. He is a great and I have recommended David and BetterHelp to several friends of mine.
David is patient and a great listener. His help working through problems has been great thus far!
David has been extremely kind, and has been a very generous listener: I feel very comfortable sharing vulnerabilities without feel of judgement or condescension! He provides lots of helpful affirmations, framing, and new patterns of thinking about both simple and complex problems. I would definitely recommend working with him!
David is a great therapist. He is very professsional, understanding and intelligent. He has a good sense of humor, which I think helps a lot. His style also consists of a gentle but directive approach, where he will be able to call things to your attention that can be addressed better in the moment. Highly recommended.
David is not only easy to talk to but he makes counseling fun. I was very discouraged by past counselors but he makes me want to come to our sessions. David is friendly yet professional.
David was so helpful, he gave me assignments that really helped me realize my value and self worth. He helped me think outside of the box. I would highly recommend David!
