Dawn Burton, LCSW
About me
As a licensed therapist serving North Carolina and Virginia, I specialize in the use of psychoeducation and biopsychosocial-spiritual clinical counseling expertise to promote acceptance and quality of life for older adults, adolescents, and families across the lifespan to successfully navigate complex emotional landscapes.
My practice centers on helping clients work through management of psychological crises and life transitions that may be eclipsed by emotional symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and grief, by using compassionate, culturally responsive care.
I'm passionate about supporting all clients using cultural competence and offer tangible ways to build upon faith-informed therapeutic approaches to navigate the process of healing from trauma, addressing communication challenges, exploring life purpose, and cultivating self-love and personal growth.
Drawing from evidence-based practices, I enjoy challenging clients to engage in clinical homework outside of sessions to master use of new skills. I endeavor to be transparent but warm in creating an affirming space where clients can explore their experiences, develop resilience, and move towards emotional wellness. Whether dealing with mood challenges, relationship transitions, or seeking deeper self-understanding, I am committed to partner with clients to achieve their highest quality of life without compromising safety. This is always achieved using empowerment, empathy and professional expertise.
