Dr. Deborah Kay Thompson, LMFT
About me
I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and certified addictions counselor. I have provided mental health services for the past 23 years. I have provided services to individuals, couples and families struggling with a variety of challenges. My areas of specialty include relationship issues, depression, anxiety, burnout, substance abuse, and life transitions. I have also worked a great deal with individuals struggling with histories of trauma and abuse.
I believe that the counseling relationship is extremely important to the success of my clients. Therefore, I try to treat everyone with warmth and respect and try to create an environment that feels safe. My approach to therapy includes utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy, client centered therapy, and family therapy. I believe it is important to work with my clients to identify the goals which they would like to accomplish through the process of therapy and the changes they would like to achieve.
