About Me

Hi there! I am here to help you, and to understand what you are going through.
My goal is to help you do more than just "get through" it. Together we might move forward and even prosper in whatever life has handed you.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and full of common sense. In a counseling relationship with me, I hope you will: 1) become more aware of what is going on inside you, 2) be able to accept the reality of that, and 3) discover ways of changing your thoughts, actions and beliefs to be more healthy and productive.
I draw from the constructs of trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral therapies in my work.
Sound good? Let's go!

It is a pleasure to work with Denise. She is compassionate and down to earth and practical, giving useful tips and advice. I was a little nervous to try therapy but working with her has shown me how non-scary and helpful the process is.

Denise Hyland is amazing. She continues to help me recognize patterns of behavior that trouble me and work towards healing myself. I feel stronger each week with her support and guidance.
