About me

Thank you for considering counseling with me. It's a really big step, and it takes a lot of courage to ask for help. I have a Master of Social Work Degree, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida and a Certified Hypnotherapist. I practice from a holistic perspective, because I believe that our physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual experiences are all connected, and what affects one aspect also affects the others. I have had extensive training and over 25 years experience with individuals, couples, families and groups seeking counseling for issues such as trauma recovery, grief/loss issues, identity and relationship issues, anxiety/panic attacks, eating disorders, life transitions and much more. I help you access and utilize your innermost strengths and skills to move beyond your current situation, gaining insight and growth in the process.

When we undergo challenging times in our lives, we can often feel isolated and alone and uncertain about where to start to make things better. It is important during challenging times to honor our feelings and be gentle and compassionate toward ourselves during the process. With compassion and understanding I'll offer the support you need to identify and utilize your strengths and skills to move beyond what you are feeling and experiencing. I’ll help you gain insight about what you're experiencing, attaining new skills and abilities in the process. Together, we will create specific goals you want to attain, and I'll give you assignments that will help you attain those goals. This can be particularly important when you are dealing with more than one specific issue, which can often be the case. At the same time, it is important to recognize that counseling is a process, and it's important to be patient and understanding with ourselves.

With respect to grief/loss, it is important to recognize that not all grief involves the loss of a loved one. While we commonly think of grief as what we experience with the loss of a loved one, we also need to grieve other losses, such as the loss of a job or relationship through breakup or divorce. Also, while there are formal custom/supports that help us process our grief over the loss of a loved one, there are no such supports in place for dealing with other losses. It is all the more important at such times to seek out the support we need to help us through the grieving process.

Again, it takes a lot of courage to ask for help, and I am so honored to be a part of your journey. Whatever challenges you are facing, I can help you navigate those challenges and regain a sense of control over life's circumstances and empowered to move beyond them. I'm so glad you're here, and I look forward to working with you.
