About me

Hello, my name is Dr. Douglas Tillman. I have been a counselor in Nebraska since 2007 following a career path in law enforcement, residential treatment of adolescent boys and Child Protection and Safety. I was clinically trained at the University of Nebraska in Kearney at a CACREP accredited program and completed a doctorate at the University of South Dakota in Counselor Education and Supervision. I also was a Clinical Director for four years at a premier outpatient practice. I take great pride in my mid-west roots and common sense approach to helping people.

I believe the simple act of scheduling time with a counselor says that you are ready for this problem to be "put in it's place" and be overcome. In counseling, I tend to work on the solution side of the problem. I also believe that it is impossible for the problem to be at the same intensity all of the time. There are exceptions to every problem. I believe my role is to help you see these exceptions (no matter how hidden they may be) and use new skills learned, along with supports (both old and new), to keep moving forward in life. I specialize in life transitions, parenting, relationships of all kinds, and issues unique to first responders.
