Dr. Paula Kiosse

(PsyD, LCPC, CRC, MHF, CHt)

About Me

I work with clients to determine the course, content, and length of therapeutic counseling. I believe it is important to work with the individual in processing thoughts, feelings, behaviors or attitudes that derail them from meeting their life goals. Sometimes this includes exploring the client's past together, in order to better understand how previous experiences or relationships influence the client's present life and their future ahead. However, I recognize that your purpose is to focus on current life goals - and to find whatever stops you from reaching your goals.

Thus, philosophically I consider psychotherapy to be your personal journey. Although I provide assistance, informed by my training and experience, you will determine the course, direction, and length of your journey. In this manner, you and I will collaborate and I will support you, while you reclaim what may appear to be lost or unavailable to you at present. My focus is to help you better understand what interferes with finding happiness or solving problems, and to identify options for achieving more control and direction in your life.

Experienced with a wide range of issues - including anxiety, depression, relationships (including GLBT - HIV/AIDS issues), and abuse - I have worked with individuals (adolescent and adults) from a wide variety of cultures, and individuals engaged in many different jobs or careers. I bring the passion of my heart and the richness of my education and experience, with the complexity of many individual life journeys to work with each and every one of you.

I've been using Dr. K for a while now. What I initially thought would be a quick fix-it type experience had turned into something much better. She genuinely cares about the root issues, not just a quick fix. I am healthier than I've ever been because I have good therapy.

Paula has helped me so much. Kept me going in times of unemployment, doubt, and depression. I would recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Paula is an amazing counselor and helped me better manage any stress & anxieties that I may have had due to personal relationships. She gave me some great tips and insights as to what I need to do to build my mental strength and to watch out for triggers. Overall a very kind and understanding person with an unbiased view and non-prejudice. I felt like the whole time I was being treated more as a friend than a patient and didn't feel any type of judgement at all.

Dr. K was my third (and would ultimately be my final) option with BH and what else can I say, but third time's a charm. From availability to understanding the unique position of working with me while I work with a face-to-face therapist, it has been a remarkable process. I am beginning to understand aspects of my life that I hadn't before, and seeing certain things through a different set of eyes helps me to better evaluate my responses to stressors in my life. Her availability, keeping scheduled appointments, and pushing me when I need it has contributed to a sense of a healing process I haven't felt in a very long time. I had hoped to find a therapist who could tell me, 'six sessions and we're done!' but that hasn't been the case, and I've discovered that often life can't be rearranged or adjusted in a set number of sessions. So kudos to the BetterHelp team as well as Dr. K for pressing on and helping me in the journey to better health.

Great working through questions and problems with her. She has been a great help to me. I never thought this medium would work for me, but it has.

Dr. Paula Kiosse is amazing. She makes wonderful suggestions which are right on, but are not pushy. In the two weeks that I have been working with Dr. Kiosse, I feel I have grown and started feeling better about myself and more confident. She is so encouraging and also dedicated. She answers quickly, too. Highest praise.

I have been working with Dr Kiosse for a few weeks and find her very helpful and very patient with her approach. She is very quick to respond and I can tell that she really does care about how I am doing and what is going on in my life. I look forward to working with her in the future.

Dr. Kiosse has been wonderful thus far. She actually listens to what I say and takes the time to write long responses to help figure out the underlying problems. She even cares so much as to write me after not hearing from me for a week, which motivated me enough to continue the therapy. Thank you so much, Dr. Kiosse!

Dr K. is a kind, understanding and sympathetic care provider. She is reliable and consistently available to discuss my concerns and respond to my needs.

This format of therapy is new to me but I have found it to be extremely helpful. Dr K gives me tools I can immediately implement into my daily life and situations and she provides feedback free of judgment. She is easy to talk to and I would highly recommend her.

I recently started counseling with Dr. Paula Kiosse and I absolutely love talking with her. I was really unsure of how counseling would be or if I would be able to open up with anyone, but I find it very easy yo talk to Dr. Paula. She is kind, compassionate, responds quickly and is not only good at responding with thoughts and perspectives, but also gives me things to work on to get through the things I am dealing with. I think this is amazing because I feel like I am actually working toward a goal. Her encouragement is really helping me move forward...something I haven't done is a very long time!
