About me

Hello! My name is Ebony Yelder and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience providing counseling and psychiatric services. I have worked in a variety of settings to include, behavioral health hospitals, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, in home counseling, as well as for the Department of Defense providing counseling services for our military and their families. I am passionate about helping individuals cope with daily life challenges as well as more complex mental health concerns.
I received my Bachelor’s in psychology from Penn State University and my Master’s in psychology from Argosy University. My passion for helping people was born out of working as a case worker in New York City for foster children early in my career.
My therapeutic approach incorporates Client Centered, Positive Psychology and Solution Focused modalities. I believe that the single most important factor in being able to effectively support a client seeking treatment is by first establishing a strong and quality rapport. Reaching out for help can so often be scary as well as an anxiety producing. Therefore, I make sure to provide a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable addressing the issues that are important to them by instilling confidence that there will always be unconditional positive regard. Together we can take this journey and collaborate on ways to help you achieve your goals and optimal emotional health!

Congratulations on taking such a big step to reach out for help and support! Well done!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Ebony Yelder. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

My experience working with Ebony has been excellent. She has been deeply supportive, compassionate, and easy to talk to on a range of topics that have been hard for me to feel comfortable exploring with others. Working with Ebony has helped me see therapy in a different way than I had before. Rather than dwelling in what is broken or needs to be fixed, she helps me stay focused on the goals I want to achieve, and reframe the work I'm doing in an empowering, positive perspective. I didn't know therapy could be like this, and I love it!

Ebony was so kind and understanding. While our schedules just didn't match up, she truly tried to make something work before I found somebody else. I would definitely recommend her services.

She's a great listener and doesn't mind breaking down each issue you have while offering a solution. Personally she helped me realize that I shouldn't be so harsh on myself, and through very simple things and methods I had to come to accept to be gentle with myself and applaud myself for my small and large goals more often. Ebony's very understanding and I couldn't imagine talking to another therapist

An excellent counselor! I was so thankful to have the option to be connected with a POC, similar to myself, as I’ve struggled to find that in traditional therapy. We clicked so well from the beginning and she really understood what I needed from therapy. Ebony created such a supportive, open space for me to express myself. I would absolutely recommend her and the BetterHelp platform.
