Hello, my name is Elizabeth Gibson, I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University. I also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education and Health Promotion from Central Michigan University. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina. I have worked in community mental health and the school environment for ten years providing counseling services to adults, parents, and families. Since 2018, I have had the privilege of providing telehealth services to adults ranging from eighteen years of age up to the senior citizen age range. I specialize in issues related to depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, stress, self-esteem, and parenting challenges. I also have experience in relationship, family, grief and loss, and anger management issues. I am fifty years old and have personal experiences that include fulfilling my role as a wife since 2006, and a mother since 2012. I am well versed in chronic illness, infertility, as well as adoption/identity issues. These influential roles, trials, and tribulations throughout my life have undoubtedly prepared and led me to this helping/healing profession.
My life's passion is to counsel and help heal individuals from all different walks of life. I consider this to be my true calling in life. I believe that we are all a "work in progress" continually changing and evolving while trying to remain true to ourselves. At the same time, I believe that "one size does not fit all" in counseling, being that we are all unique and complex individuals. We encounter vastly different challenges and circumstances that have impacted our lives in various ways.
I use an eclectic approach to effectively treat individuals by adapting Strength-Based, Solution-Focused, Cognitive-Behavior, and Person-Centered therapeutic modalities into my practice. I will tailor treatment to adequately meet your personal expectations and distinct needs, meanwhile providing a safe space, where you can express yourself freely as you wish, at a pace comfortable for you.
Building a level of trust, and maintaining a positive therapeutic relationship are two necessities while working collectively as a team. I will support, guide and encourage you in a warm, personable manner, while identifying realistic goals. Together we can develop and address practical coping strategies, conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving solutions, stress management, as well as self-care tools and techniques that can be genuinely helpful in the healing process. I also encourage you to draw upon your definitive strengths and abilities that will help pave the way to positive growth, change, and overall progress made.
I can reassure you that validation, empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard will be evident in the four modes of communication that I offer throughout treatment. Messaging live, telephone chat, video chat, and asynchronous messaging are all available to help meet your therapeutic needs. Please note that "asynchronous messaging" is Not considered live-time, but rather it's an asynchronous exchange of messages that have no scheduled times or dates unlike the other options. With that said, please note that I will respond to your "asynchronous messages" within 24 hours or less.
Imagine experiencing a transformation that could change the trajectory of your life path. I look forward to being part of your journey to self-discovery. I applaud you for your courageous effort in seeking help, as it is the first step in the right direction. Taking the initiative in many instances is no easy feat! Although you may feel alone in your struggles, know that you're never alone. Lastly, remember that it is never too late to claim the life that you desire and deserve.
I look forward to working with you!

Elizabeth makes me feel heard and safe. She checks in to make sure things are on track and assigns relevant homework outside of therapy if you so choose. She is a master of her craft.

I've recommended Elizabeth to two of my friends who were seeking therapy. One of which is actually also a therapist herself. Before being paired with Elizabeth I had seen several other therapists & psychiatrists and was getting discouraged by my sessions with them. Elizabeth is the first therapist I’ve worked with who makes me feel like a person and not just a client. She is so compassionate and understanding. You can tell that she truly wants to help you and more importantly, she wants to give you the tools you need to help yourself. Her patience, understanding, and kindness all make her a great therapist and person. Her help has been an incredible point of stability and a lifeline for me.

Elizabeth is a great help to me as I work through life’s ups and downs, she is a great listener, helpful with her insights and a deep well of resources to help me move forward.
Written on Sep 13, 2022 after therapy with Elizabeth for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, family conflicts, and compassion fatigue
Elizabeth is a great and encouraging therapist. She challenges me to think of different scenarios when dealing with the situations I'm going through right now. She often encourages me by letting me know my feelings are valid and I like that she will sometimes give me "homework" as requested to keep my mind thinking and working through things. I was hesitant to start therapy as I know it's not easy but she makes it very easy to talk and keep our sessions going.

I have nothing but positive compliments to offer Elizabeth Gibson for the healthy trajectory my mental has taken since I've been under her care. Like most people during the pandemic, my world was spun around when I lost a sister, my fathern and my job. While I was healing from all that, she guided me to coming to terms with childhood trauma and I'm now feeling a sense of worth and have confidence I'd never known was possible. I feel so privilaged to have her as my therapist.

Elizabeth has been a great help. She's very kind, positive, and very encouraging, both in expressing myself and my feelings, and also in making connections to help me find and discover ways to better myself. She cares about my well-being and has kept in constant touch all throughout my time with her. She's also given a wide variety of resources than have helped with what I've been going through, and I'm very thankful for that.

So far this has been a very good experience. I really enjoy talking to the counselor I’ve been paired with. She is patient and genuinely encouraging and excited with my progress. She is extremely kind and welcoming too. Our phone sessions are always very productive. I like posting on the front page a lot. I like to write, and it’s given me an unexpected outlet for my thoughts and frustrations, though I do find the immediate feedback from the phone sessions more productive.

I had serious doubts about counseling and had put it off for years. I finally decided I didn't want to keep adding additional medications, I wanted to learn how to deal with my life.
I was paired with Elizabeth Gibson and it was a blessing! She started communicating with me within a few hours. For me this was extremely important. I was hurting a lot and she didn't allow me to wait and wonder if I was going to get help. She is very patient and allows me to go where I need to go with our discussions. Its been approx 15 days and I am in such a better place.
Somehow over the messaging she provides comfort, compassion and understanding. She is like my childhood imaginary friend you tell all your secrets to with one major difference, Elizabeth is SMART!
I would highly recommend "betterhelp" and if you have the choice definitely pick Elizabeth Gibson.

It was a pleasure working with Elizabeth! She was very consistent in being on time for scheduled appointments, offered all 3 different methods of contact, and asked all the necessary questions that she needed to fully understand my situation. She was kind and empathetic, and I could tell she was truly interested in what I had to say. I loved her approach of targeting the root of the problem before proceeding further. Highly recommend!
