Hi. My name is Elizabeth and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I am also a certified school counselor and recently transitioned to BetterHelp full-time after working as a counselor at a high school. I have been working as a counselor for 7 years, primarily in the school setting. I have helped my students with issues such as family problems, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, ADHD, autism, LGBT-issues, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Before working as a counselor, I was an elementary teacher for 6 years.
Most of my experience is with adolescents, but I also feel comfortable and have experience working with adults. I have been a counselor on Better Help for 2 years now and have loved seeing my clients understand themselves better and improve their mental health. This is why I have transitioned to working with BetterHelp full-time. I feel comfortable counseling people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those whose backgrounds are different than my own. My entire professional career has been spent with a primarily Hispanic population, but I am comfortable with other cultures, as well.
I am a big fan of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-focused therapy, but I try to cater my counseling to each client, so I often incorporate different counseling philosophies as needed. As a school counselor, I had many duties not related to counseling. I joined BetterHelp, so I could use my counseling skills to help more people. I am looking forward to meeting with clients and working together to improve their mental health. I also know how hard it can be to find a time to meet with a counselor, so I offer limited after-work sessions, for your convenience, in addition to 8am-5pm sessions.
I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives and I want to work with them to improve their contentment, coping skills, and mental health. I believe it is very important and beneficial to have a nonjudgmental, unbiased person to talk to. This is one of the best parts of counseling. I often use humor to lighten the mood when counseling. I find this helps grow my relationships with my clients. Congratulations on making the first step towards counseling by checking out this website. I would love to work with you.

She has been amazing! I have been doing therapy for the last 6 months with her, and it has honestly been so good for my mental health. I'm not sure where I would be today if it wasn't for my decision to do therapy and be partnered up with such a great therapist like Elizabeth Stanley!

i love it when someone tells me i’m in the wrong and is just honest with me . she creates a comfortable space to be able to word vomit and express everything no matter how silly it may be and she listens and responds in a very honest and transparent way . I would highly recommend her if you’re someone that will actually listen to the advice given to you .

Elizabeth is a fantastic listener, has down to earth insights, and makes conversation flow easily. As someone with social anxiety and an introverted personality type, I often find it quite difficult opening up about my feelings to others. However, I have felt at great ease speaking with Elizabeth from Day 1.
One thing I greatly appreciate is how she challenges me to turn my negative self-talk and anxious feelings back on themselves — "putting them on trial," as she puts it. I've never had a therapist before who made me feel so much like I was confiding in a longtime friend, rather than speaking to some rigid, impersonal professional. I would highly recommend Elizabeth's services to anyone seeking an empathetic and thoughtful person to help with anything you might be going through on your mental health journey.
