About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who works in the state of Texas. I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, various types of trauma history, parenting obstacles, and other mental health struggles. I currently work with youth and adults in the foster care system and enjoy walking alongside those trying to sort through their past, cope within the present, and plan toward future goals. I have also worked with many individuals who have experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect.

My therapy style is built on developing a strong rapport with each client and meeting them where they are without judgement. I am hopeful and wish to instill hope in each client I work with so that they can gain a stronger sense of self-awareness and self-growth. I believe every person deserves respect within a safe and healthy place to grapple with life's challenges. My approach is a collaboration of cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and a strengths-based approach to working with individuals. I tailor my approach to fit each client's individual needs.

When you are ready, I am here. We can then begin this journey to a more fulfilling life!

I am new to therapy and was concerned about not finding a therapist that “fit”. Emily has been an incredible therapist who provides wonderful insights and asks questions that develops a deeper understanding of yourself/situations. She is great!

Emily is an intuitive therapist. She listens. She’s great at keeping track of all the conversations and making connections that help with understanding and dealing with issues at their core.

Emily Benton was my therapist for a little over a year. She always met me where I was and made me feel comfortable and confident in where I was and the pace I wanted to go. She helped me work through hardships I've faced by nurturing me, validating me, and providing me with tools to help.
